Traders Federation President N.D. Andrabi Calls for Fair Elections in Kreeri Main Market, Urges Unity and Registration Drive

Kreeri, August 2: President of the Traders Federation, N.D. Andrabi, has strongly advocated for the timely and transparent conduct of elections for the Traders Federation of Kreeri Main Market.

Speaking to the media during the general elections of the Al-Murad Auto Stand, Kreeri, Andrabi said that the Traders Federation elections should be conducted in a free, fair, and democratic manner. He appealed to the district administration to extend its support in ensuring a transparent electoral process.
Andrabi urged all shopkeepers and members of the Traders Federation to remain united and prepared for the upcoming elections. He emphasized that the market is represented by honest and dedicated traders who deserve a fair opportunity to elect their leadership.

Highlighting the importance of proper documentation, Andrabi also appealed to all unit holders who have not yet completed their registration to do so immediately. He stated that strengthening the registration process would help ensure better representation and improve the functioning of the Traders Federation.

Reaffirming his commitment to the welfare of the business community, Andrabi said that transparent elections and an organized traders' body are essential for safeguarding the interests and development of Kreeri's trading community.

PDP Baramulla Reviews Preparations for August 5 Programme, Calls for Peaceful Democratic Participation

Baramulla, August 2: The Jammu & Kashmir People's Democratic Party (PDP), District Baramulla, on Sunday held a high-level organizational meeting to review preparations for the party's upcoming 5 August programme, urging party leaders and workers to ensure its successful, peaceful, and democratic conduct across the district.

The meeting, held at the residence of District President Mohd. Rafique Rather, was presided over by him and attended by former Minister Syed Basharat Bukhari as the special invitee. It was attended by district office bearers, contested candidates, Zonal Presidents, Women's Wing and Youth Wing functionaries, along with senior party leaders.

A threadbare discussion was held on the party's programme scheduled for August 5. The organizational directions and strategy conveyed during the recent meeting of District Presidents with the Party President were shared with all participants to ensure coordinated implementation at the grassroots level.

Addressing the gathering, District President Mohd. Rafique Rather stressed that the August 5 programme should reflect the party's commitment to democracy and constitutional values. He urged all party workers to mobilize peacefully, maintain discipline, and raise the voice of the people through democratic and constitutional means.

Former Minister Syed Basharat Bukhari, while addressing the meeting, said that the PDP's stand is firmly based on the Constitution and democratic principles. He maintained that every citizen has a duty to uphold the Constitution and asserted that the changes made to Article 370 were not in accordance with constitutional principles. He called upon party workers to remain united, strengthen the organization at the grassroots level, and continue their democratic struggle for justice and the restoration of the people's constitutional rights.

The meeting also witnessed detailed deliberations on strengthening the party's organizational structure, expanding public outreach, and intensifying grassroots activities throughout Baramulla district. Participants resolved to work collectively to ensure the success of the August 5 programme and to effectively highlight the concerns and aspirations of the people through peaceful democratic means.

Ovais Ahmad; District Organiser Youth Mir Aehsan; Zonal Youth President Adv. Ali Mohammad; Block President Nissar Ahmad, besides several other senior leaders, office bearers, and party workers.

MP Baramulla Er. Rasheed Nominates Late Abdul Ghani Baig Athar for Posthumous Padma Bhushan Award 2027

Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha Baramulla, Er. Rasheed, has formally nominated the late Abdul Ghani Baig Athar for the Padma Bhushan Award 2027 posthumously, in recognition of his unparalleled contribution towards the promotion and preservation of the Kashmiri language and literature, said Firdous Baba, PA/PS to the Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Baramulla, Er. Rasheed, in a press statement issued today.
Firdous Baba said that Er. Rasheed himself is a columnist and has immense love and respect for the writers and poets of Kashmir. The late Abdul Ghani Baig Athar was a renowned literary personality whose lifelong dedication to Kashmiri literature left a lasting impact on the cultural and intellectual landscape of Jammu and Kashmir. His writings reflected the richness of the Kashmiri language, while his tireless efforts to guide and encourage young writers and poets helped shape a new generation of literary talent.
He further said that Abdul Ghani Baig Athar’s invaluable contribution towards preserving the linguistic and literary heritage of Kashmir deserves the highest national recognition. His contribution extended beyond his own literary works, as he continued to serve as a guiding force for emerging writers and poets, inspiring them to preserve and strengthen the rich literary tradition of the Kashmiri language.
Firdous Baba expressed confidence that the Government of India would give due consideration to the recommendation made by Hon’ble Member of Parliament Er. Rasheed and confer the Padma Bhushan posthumously upon the late Abdul Ghani Baig Athar. He said that such recognition would be a fitting tribute to a literary icon whose legacy continues to inspire writers, intellectuals and generations of people who cherish the Kashmiri language.
He reiterated that honouring distinguished personalities like Abdul Ghani Baig Athar is essential to preserving India’s vast linguistic diversity and recognising those who dedicated their lives to the promotion of literature and culture. The contributions of Mr. Baig to education and literature will continue to be remembered in the years to come.
The initiative of Er. Rasheed has been appreciated by several social and literary organisations across Jammu and Kashmir.
