Challa Boniyar Residents Demand Relief from Prolonged Power Cuts Despite Smart Meter Installation
Boniyar, Baramulla: Residents of Challa Boniyar have voiced strong concern over the persistent and unscheduled power cuts they continue to face, despite the installation of smart electricity meters in the area. With temperatures soaring during the peak summer season, locals say the frequent outages have made daily life increasingly difficult.
According to residents, electricity is interrupted several times a day without prior notice, affecting households, students, elderly citizens, and small businesses. Many have questioned the purpose of installing smart meters when there has been no noticeable improvement in the reliability of the power supply.
Speaking collectively, the people of Challa Boniyar have appealed to the MLA Uri, Dr. Sajjad Shafi Uri, to intervene and address the issue on priority. They have requested that the area be reconnected to the LJHP Bach feeder from the Sheeri Power Grid, which they believe would provide a more stable and reliable electricity supply.
Residents said they are not seeking special treatment but are requesting uninterrupted power, particularly during the intense summer heat when electricity is essential for drinking water, cooling, and other daily necessities.
The people of Challa Boniyar have expressed hope that the concerned authorities and the local MLA will take immediate action to resolve the issue and ensure a dependable electricity supply for the area.

Political leaders, police officers visit Inspector Mohammad Ashraf Mir's residence to condole demise of his mother

Handwara, July 12: Political leaders, senior police officers, and social activists on Sunday visited the ancestral residence of Police Inspector Mohammad Ashraf Mir at Lachhipora, Boniyar in Baramulla district to offer condolences on the demise of his mother.

The visiting dignitaries expressed their heartfelt sympathies with Inspector Mir and other members of the bereaved family. They prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and for strength, patience, and courage for the family to bear the irreparable loss.

During the condolence visit, the leaders and officers conveyed their solidarity with the bereaved family and shared in their grief. Locals said the presence of political representatives, police officials, and members of civil society reflected the respect and goodwill enjoyed by Inspector Mohammad Ashraf Mir and his family.

Special prayers were offered for the departed soul, with the visitors praying that the bereaved family finds the fortitude to cope with the loss.

لکڑی کے کھمبوں پر اسمارٹ میٹروں کی تنصیب، عوام نے حفاظتی خدشات کا اظہار

ہندواڑہ، 25 جون: ہندوارہ کے راجوار علاقے مختلف دہیات کے مکینوں نے لکڑی کے کھمبوں پر اسمارٹ بجلی میٹروں کی تنصیب پر تشویش کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے الزام لگایا ہے کہ یہ کام مناسب حفاظتی اقدامات اور نگرانی کے بغیر انجام دیا جا رہا ہے۔

ایک سماجی کارکن میر عمران نے نمائندے سے بات کرتے ہو ئے کہا کہ اسمارٹ میٹر نصب کرنے کا کام ٹھیکیداروں کے ذریعے کیا جا رہا ہے، جبکہ محکمہ بجلی (پی ڈی ڈی) کے افسران اور ملازمین اس عمل کی مؤثر نگرانی کرنے میں ناکام ہیں۔ ان کے مطابق لکڑی کے کھمبوں پر اسمارٹ میٹروں کی تنصیب سے پائیداری، حفاظت اور تکنیکی معیارات پر سوالات اٹھتے ہیں۔

علاقہ مکینوں نے متعلقہ حکام سے مطالبہ کیا ہے کہ وہ تنصیبات کا معائنہ کریں اور اس بات کو یقینی بنائیں کہ اسمارٹ میٹر منصوبے مقررہ اصولوں اور رہنما خطوط کے مطابق مکمل کیے جائیں۔ انہوں نے مستقبل میں کسی بھی ممکنہ حادثے سے بچنے کے لیے محکمہ بجلی کی جانب سے جوابدہی اور باقاعدہ نگرانی پر بھی زور دیا۔

تاہم، عوامی خدشات کے حوالے سے محکمہ کے ذمہ داران کی جانب سے تاحال کوئی باضابطہ بیان جاری نہیں کیا گیا ہے۔
