Rayees Raina Appreciates MLA Mehraj Malik’s Energy, Urges Restraint in Language and Conduct

Baramulla: Rayees Raina, State Vice President, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (YW), JandK, has described MLA Mehraj Malik as a young and energetic public representative with the potential to connect strongly with the people, while urging him to exercise greater restraint in his language and public conduct.

Raina said that Mehraj Malik possesses several positive qualities, including youthfulness, energy and an ability to remain connected with the public. However, he believes that certain aspects of the MLA’s public communication require greater maturity and restraint.

“A public representative carries a responsibility that goes beyond personal expression. The use of abusive or unnecessarily harsh language, as well as body language that may sometimes appear inappropriate, does not suit the dignity of a public personality,” Raina said.

He emphasised that the words and conduct of elected representatives have a direct influence on society, particularly on the younger generation.

“Our leaders are watched by thousands of young people. When abusive language or aggressive expressions become part of public discourse, they can influence the mindset and behaviour of society. Strong political disagreement can and should be expressed firmly, but it can also be expressed with dignity and respect,” Raina said.

Raina urged Mehraj Malik to work particularly on his control over his words and public expressions, saying that doing so would not weaken his political personality but could instead make him more effective and widely acceptable.

“If Mehraj Malik wants to continue his journey as a public leader and remain closely connected with the people, I sincerely believe he should work on these aspects. His energy and youth are his strengths; if these are accompanied by restraint, maturity and dignified language, his personality can become even more appealing to the public,” Raina said.

Raina also stressed that respect in public life must remain balanced and should not disappear even during disagreement.

"Even when we believe that another person is wrong, publicly humiliating, insulting or disrespecting that person is not the right way forward. Words can leave a deep psychological impact on an individual and may create a lasting mark on a person’s confidence and personality. Therefore, there has to be a balance between expressing disagreement, holding people accountable and maintaining basic human dignity,” Raina said.

He added that political strength should not be measured by how harshly one speaks, but by how effectively one can communicate strong convictions while maintaining composure and respect.

Raina concluded that his observations were intended as constructive feedback and a reminder of the responsibility that comes with public life, adding that Mehraj Malik has considerable goodwill among the people and can strengthen that bond further by bringing greater restraint, dignity and balance to his public conduct.
