Recent reports indicate that former actress, model, and social media influencer Mateena Jeelani is expected to formally join the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party on Saturday at the party headquarters in Srinagar, in the presence of party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari.
According to the reports, Mateena Jeelani, who is from Rajpora Rajwar in the Handwara area of Kupwara district, said she decided to enter active politics because she believes the people of Handwara have not received adequate development opportunities. She also said she chose the Apni Party after studying the approaches of different political parties and was encouraged by its emphasis on youth participation and grassroots welfare.
As of the latest available information, the announcement concerns her planned induction into the party; official confirmation of the completed joining ceremony may follow after the event.
