Two mornings ago, no Bengali film could secure a show. The reason? 'Pushpa 2' loomed ahead—a film that had proven itself over the last 14 days. News channels buzzed with headlines: 'Pushpa spells trouble for Bengali cinema. Dev expresses anger. SVF voices frustration.'
But this morning, those same news channels carried a new headline, one of the same genre but with a completely opposite meaning:
'Pushpa’s shows being reduced for Bengali films...'
For the past 14 days, the field belonged solely to Pushpa. It raced ahead, scored goals, and won the hearts of the people. But now, standing in its path is a force named ‘Dev.’
Dev is like the Rajputs of history—someone who doesn’t surrender before the battle is over, someone who stands tall with his chest out, unyielding.
And Dev is standing. In every theater. Right before Pushpa. With “House Full” boards strapped to his back. In just two days, over 250 almost full or house-full boards have gone up, and Shyam Mahato might be smiling faintly, whispering to himself:
'This is Bengal. My Bengal. Those trudging through the sticky mud, drenched in rain to enter the theaters—they... they are my strength. They are my weapon.
