Following the reveal of Spotify Wrapped , the audio streaming service released its 2023 rankings based on 2023's listening music and podcasts data.
According to the rankings, the two-member unit YOASABI's third single song, "IDOL" featured as the "
OSHI NO KO" anime's opening theme, was the most-played song in Japan on Spotify in 2023. The song released digitally on April 12, 2023, staying on Spotify Japan's daily charts for over three months from April 14 to July 21.
"Idol" was also the second most played song by Japanese artists abroad, behind Kaze Fujii's " ShHINUNUGA E-WA", which ranked No.1 for two consecutive years.
YOASOBI themselves became the most-played Japanese artist abroad, now for three consecutive years. Their 2019 digital single song "YORU Ni KAKERU" has ranked in the top five of "Most played song by Japanese artists abroad" for three consecutive years.
