⚠️ Flipkart Scam Alert: Customer Alleges Paying ₹10,000 Extra for iPhone 16 Pro
A Cautionary Tale from the Big Billion Days Sale
While Flipkart's Big Billion Days Sale promises massive discounts, a recent incident has brought a sharp focus on potential scams and technical issues plaguing the e-commerce giant. A customer has publicly accused Flipkart of fraud, alleging he was forced to pay over ₹10,000 extra for an iPhone 16 Pro and has yet to receive a refund.
The Incident: iPhone 16 Pro Order
The user, identified as Madan Gaikwad, took to social media (Twitter) to share his experience:
* Initial Order: Gaikwad ordered the iPhone 16 Pro, which was initially priced at ₹75,970 (without exchange).
* Exchange & Payment: He opted to exchange his iPhone 15 for a value of ₹26,550, and his credit card was successfully debited ₹49,995.
* Exchange Cancellation: The customer later canceled the iPhone 15 exchange offer after securing a better value offline. He was expecting to simply pay the cancelled exchange amount, which would have kept the total cost around ₹76,500.
The Alleged Scam: "Technical Glitch"
When the phone was delivered, the real trouble began:
* Extra Demand: Flipkart's logistics partner, Ekart, demanded ₹36,351 from Gaikwad—nearly ₹10,000 more than the actual exchange value he was supposed to pay back.
* The Excuse: According to the customer, Ekart claimed the extra money was due to a "technical glitch" and assured him the amount would be refunded by Flipkart.
* Overpayment: Gaikwad paid the demanded sum to receive his phone, bringing his total payment for the iPhone 16 Pro to a staggering ₹86,346. This meant he paid approximately ₹10,376 more than the actual sale price he was quoted.
The Aftermath: Discount Adjustment and No Refund
Following the delivery, the customer discovered that Flipkart had allegedly adjusted the initial discount from ₹30,000 to ₹20,000 on the invoice, effectively absorbing the extra ₹10,000 he was forced to pay. Gaikwad maintains that despite follow-ups, Flipkart has failed to process the refund, leading him to label the incident as a clear case of fraud or scam.
This serves as an important reminder for customers to be extremely vigilant while making high-value purchases during online sales, especially when involving exchanges or technical payment issues.
