DC Anantnag convenes preparatory meeting for Independence Day celebrations-2025

ANANTNAG, JULY 14: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr. S. F. Hamid, convened the preparatory meeting to review the arrangements for the celebration of upcoming Independence Day-2025 with the concerned officers today, here.

Emphasising the historical importance of Independence Day, DC described it as a momentous occasion that should be celebrated with zeal and patriotic fervour. He underscored the need for seamless coordination among the concerned departments and exhorted them to make collective efforts for the successful conduct of the National event in its true spirit.

During the meeting, key aspects and arrangements including the schedule and timing of the event, preparation and consolidation of venue, stage/dice preparation and management, security arrangements, sanitation and cleanliness, seating arrangements, medical facilities, uninterrupted power and water supply, venue illumination and decoration, deployment of fire tenders, transportation, printing and distribution of invitation cards, installation of the public address system, prize distribution, etc were reviewed threadbare.

Dr. Hamid issued directions to all concerned officers to discharge their assigned tasks diligently and put in place the necessary arrangements well in time so that a smooth and memorable celebration befitting the national event is held.

It was informed that the main function will be held at the Shaheed Himayun Muzamil, Government Degree College (Boys), Khanabal, where the National Flag will be hoisted by the chief guest, followed by a parade featuring contingents of the J&K Police, other security forces, School Education and NCC.

In addition, colourful cultural programmes reflecting themes of patriotism, nationalism, and local folk traditions will be presented. Besides, it was decided that Jhankis from various departments showcasing their achievements and disseminating public awareness about the respective schemes will take part in the main event.

Independence Day celebrations will also be held at the Sub-divisional, Tehsil and Block levels across the district.

The meeting was attended by ADC, Principal GMC and SHM, GDC (B) Anantnag, DPO ICDS, GM, DIC, ACR, ACD, CPO, CMO, CEO, officers from engineering departments and other concerned officers of the district.

BJP Leaders in Kashmir Welcome Pilgrims on Second Day of Amarnath Yatra, Highlight Valley’s Tradition of Hospitality

Anantnag, July 2:
Senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kashmir extended a warm welcome to the devotees participating in the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra, as the pilgrimage entered its second day.

Speaking on the occasion, senior BJP leader Mohammad Sidiq Khan emphasized that the people of Kashmir have always been known for their exceptional hospitality and communal harmony. "The tradition of welcoming guests with open arms is deeply rooted in the ethos of Kashmiri culture. We are proud to continue this legacy, especially during this spiritually significant Yatra," he said.

The welcoming event was organized by BJP’s local units and was marked by enthusiasm and goodwill. Party leaders interacted with the pilgrims, extended greetings, and ensured arrangements were in place to support a smooth and peaceful pilgrimage.

Among those present were Nazir Ahmad Ganie, State Vice President of the BJP Minority Morcha, Abid Nengroo, General Secretary of BJP Anantnag District, and Maqbool Ganie, a senior party functionary. All leaders reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that the Amarnath Yatra continues to be conducted in a secure and supportive environment.

The BJP Leaders stated that the pilgrimage is not only a religious event but also a strong symbol of the unity and mutual respect that binds the diverse communities of Jammu and Kashmir. "The people of the Valley, regardless of their faith, have always played a vital role in supporting the Yatra. It is this spirit that strengthens the social fabric of the region,” he noted.

The leaders expressed their appreciation for the efforts of the security forces, administration, and volunteers who are working tirelessly to ensure the safety and convenience of the pilgrims.

The BJP leaders said they are committed to assisting in every way possible to make the Yatra peaceful, successful, and reflective of Kashmir’s time-honored values of hospitality and harmony.
