An incident in which a husband murdered his wife, hid her under the bed and switched off her mobile phone and fled three days ago has come to light in Kamaldinni of Mudalagi taluk of Belgaum district. Sakshi Akash Kumbara (20) has been identified as the murdered wife. It is suspected that her husband was forcing Akash to bring dowry to Sakshi, who had married Akash four months ago. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Mudalagi police station.

Ramesh Katti shows strength with 52 members

Belgaum: Former MP Ramesh Katti, who had filed his nomination for the post of DCC Bank director from Hukkeri constituency yesterday, has once again filed his nomination today with 52 PKPS voters (delegates) supporting him.

He had reached the DCC Bank central office in the city on Wednesday and made a show of strength by filing his nomination along with 52 supported voters. Just yesterday, MLA Balachandra Jarkiholi had announced Rajendra Patil as his candidate with the support of 42 voters from Hukkeri constituency.

Speaking to reporters at this time, he said, "I have filed my nomination in another round along with 52 members who support me. I have also brought with me voters who wanted to see the DCC central office."

I will not take the leadership of any constituency in the district. I will stand by the decision taken by the leaders of the respective taluk. He clarified that like-minded people will join hands together but will move forward in the best interest of the bank.

खानापूर : बेळगाव जिल्ह्यातील खानापूर तालुक्यातील कक्केरी गावात श्री बिष्ठादेवी आणि त्यांच्या भगिनी श्री मुकम्मादेवी यांची वार्षिक जत्रा मोठ्या जल्लोषात पार पडली. या जत्रेत विविध भागांतून आलेल्या सुमारे तीन ते चार लाख भाविकांनी देवीचे दर्शन घेतल्याचा अंदाज आहे.

पहिल्या दिवशी विविध भागांतून आलेल्या लाखो भाविकांनी बिष्ठादेवीला उडीतुंबव, दीर्घदंड नमस्कार, तुलाभार, हरके (मानता) अशा विविध सेवांचा समर्पण केला. या मंदिरात वर्षभरात फक्त तीन विशिष्ट दिवसांवरच "काय (नारळ) फोडण्याची" परंपरा आहे. विजयादशमी निमित्त भक्तांनी पहाटे ४ वाजल्यापासून सलग दोन तास देवीसमोर नारळ फोडण्याची सेवा केली.

हुक्केरी ग्रामीण वीज सहकारी संघाच्या निवडणुकीत अप्पणगौडा पाटील सहकारी पॅनेलच्या पराभवाबाबत माजी खासदार अण्णासाहेब जोल्ले यांनी माध्यमांच्या प्रश्नांना उत्तर देताना सांगितले की, “बाहेरचे लोक येऊन काही करू शकत नाहीत” असे विरोधक म्हणत होते.

पण अप्पणगौडा पाटील सहकारी पॅनेलला तब्बल १२ हजार लोकांनी मत देऊन पाठिंबा दर्शवला आहे, त्यामुळे ही हार नसून एक मोठा लोकाधार मिळाल्याचे त्यांनी स्पष्ट केले.

“वोट चोरी सही संकलन” अभियानाच्या बॅनरवर मंत्री लक्ष्मी हेब्बाळकर यांचे छायाचित्र नसल्यामुळे समर्थक संतप्त झाले. त्यांनी काँग्रेस कार्यालयासमोर धरना बसवून जोरदार घोषणाबाजी केली आणि जिल्हा काँग्रेस अध्यक्ष विनय नावलगट्टीसुद्धा निषेध करत हाक मारली.

दांडेळी : दांडेळीतून सुमारे १० किमी अंतरावर असलेल्या १० नंबर पुलाजवळ रविवारी रात्री अंदाजे २ वाजण्याच्या सुमारास एका बिबट्याने रस्ता ओलांडतानाचा क्षण कॅमेऱ्यात कैद झाला आहे.

त्या वेळी एका पर्यटकाने दांडेळीतून गणेशगुडीकडे प्रवास करत असताना आपल्या मोबाईल फोनमध्ये बिबट्याने रस्ता पार करतानाचा व्हिडिओ चित्रीत केला.

बेळगाव : डीसिसी बँक निवडणुकीत राहुल जारकीहोळी यांनी उमेदवारी करावी का, याबाबत चर्चा सुरू असल्याचे जिल्हा प्रभारी मंत्री सतीश जारकीहोळी यांनी सांगितले.

सोमवारी बेळगाव मध्यवर्ती बसस्थानक परिसरात राहुल जारकीहोळी यांच्या वाढदिवसानिमित्त रस्त्याच्या कडेला व्यवसाय करणाऱ्या व्यापाऱ्यांना छत्री वाटप करताना ते बोलत होते.

“अजून ११ ऑक्टोबरपर्यंत वेळ आहे. त्या काळात सर्व नेत्यांशी चर्चा करून राहुल यांनी निवडणूक लढवायची की नाही याचा निर्णय घेतला जाईल,” असे त्यांनी स्पष्ट केले.
