Biometric security is entering a new era

Fingerprint scanners and face unlock systems were just the start. Nowadays, biometric security is becoming not only more intelligent and adaptive but also increasingly hard to evade.

In the latest issue of Industrial Safety Review, we look at how AI, behavioural analytics, multimodal authentication, and liveness detection technologies together are changing the ways industries protect identities.

Present-day systems, for instance, are able to merge several biometric markers like facial features, iris patterns, voice characteristics, and even behaviour in order to both increase reliability and enhance security. Simultaneously, AI-driven fraud recognition is allowing enterprises to counter deep fakes, fake identities, and highly sophisticated spoofing techniques.

Being the future of biometric security, it will be finally moving away from just a one-time authentication point. It will embrace the aspects of continuous trust, smart authentication, as well as a heightened protection of digital identity.

Workplace safety is no longer a compliance requirement. It’s a business imperative.

The most successful organizations no longer treat safety at workplace as just another compliance requirement. They understand this as one of the major elements which determine their productivity, operational excellence, employee health and overall business continuity.

In Industrial Safety Review's latest edition, our top story discusses the transition of workplace safety from just a regulated activity to a strategic objective of business. Along with industries getting more automated, digitized and producing at higher speed, the risks are also becoming more diverse. This has led to the demand for higher safety cultures, more involvement of leaders, relentless training and use of technological tools for risk management.

Besides, protecting people is not only a moral obligation. It is also an astute decision that a company can make.

Access control is no longer just about entry.
It’s about intelligence.

The function of access control has evolved drastically throughout the recent years. Initially, access control was only about locking and using cards or credentials, but now it is turning into a smart network that combines security, safety and operational efficiency.

The latest issue of Industrial Safety Review discloses how the changes in access control systems through AI, cloud connectivity, biometrics, mobile credentials and smart building integration are enabling very modern workplaces. Besides controlling the entrance and exit of people, today's systems can also detect unusual access patterns, allow remote management, integrate with fire safety systems, and enforce that only trained and certified individuals are granted access to risky areas, among other functions.

With the growing interconnection of different industries, access control is no longer just a security feature but an essential platform that aids companies in creating safer, more intelligent and efficient environments.
