New Delhi - The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has announced the postponement of its planned "Bharat Bandh" (nationwide strike) scheduled for October 3rd. The decision was made during an emergency meeting of the board's office bearers, chaired by President Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani.

The postponement comes in light of religious festivals being celebrated by other communities in several states. The AIMPLB stated that new dates for the Bharat Bandh will be announced in the near future.

Despite the postponement of the nationwide strike, the board has confirmed that its broader protest movement against the controversial Waqf Amendment Act will proceed as planned. All other scheduled programs and activities will continue as announced.

The press release, signed by General Secretary Maulana Fazlur Rahim Mujaddidi and Spokesperson Dr. S. Q. R. Ilyas, emphasized that the decision to postpone the October 3rd event was made after a detailed review of the situation.

Although the matter was initially resolved peacefully a week ago in the presence of police and local community leaders, the situation has now escalated after police registered a case against 15 Muslim youth, including 8 named individuals.

Police Call It a “New Tradition”

Police officials stated that the act of displaying the banner was considered a “new tradition,” which, under government guidelines, is not allowed to be introduced without permission. They confirmed that an FIR has been lodged and an investigation is underway.

New Delhi, Sept 16 – At a national seminar titled “Rule of Law”, held at Jawahar Bhawan in the capital, prominent legal minds, former judges, and civil society representatives came together to stress the urgent need to protect India’s constitutional values. The event was organized by Indian Muslims for Civil Rights (IMCR).

Chaired by Salman Khurshid, former Union Minister and senior Supreme Court lawyer, the seminar called on legal professionals to act as guardians of justice—especially in times when democratic institutions face pressure.

Delivering the keynote address, Muhammad Adib, former MP and Chairman of IMCR, emphasized that the organization is not limited to Muslim issues, but exists to defend the rights of all communities and oppose injustice in all forms. He underscored that strengthening the rule of law is essential for maintaining democracy, adding, “When the rule of law is weak, the foundations of democracy are shaken.”

New Delhi: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has expressed disappointment over the Supreme Court’s interim order on the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, calling it "incomplete and unsatisfactory." While the apex court granted partial relief by staying some contentious provisions, the Board believes the ruling falls short of addressing the broader constitutional violations in the amended law.

In a statement, Dr. Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas, spokesperson for the Board, said:
“Though the Supreme Court stayed a few provisions, it has ignored several serious constitutional concerns. This partial relief has left the community deeply disappointed.”

He further noted that key provisions, perceived by many as arbitrary and damaging to religious freedom, remain in effect, raising fears of misuse.

New Delhi (Fikrokhabar News): Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind President, Maulana Mahmood Arsad Madani, has expressed serious concern over the Supreme Court’s interim order regarding the Waqf Act 2025, particularly its remarks on the principle of Waqf by User.

In a strongly worded statement, Maulana Madani said that the court’s comments on Waqf by User—a concept where properties used continuously for religious purposes are recognized as waqf—are deeply troubling and warrant serious reflection.

He noted that Jamiat had raised several grave concerns in court about the amended law. One of the key objections was the transfer of authority to determine the nature of waqf properties from judicial Waqf Tribunals to administrative officers like District Collectors, which, according to him, amounts to state interference in religious matters. While he welcomed the court’s interim stay on this provision and acknowledged partial relief in other areas, he emphasized that the most fundamental issue—the protection of Waqf by User—remains unresolved.

Maulana Madani pointed out that, according to official data, over four lakh waqf properties across India fall under the Waqf by User category. This includes over 1.19 lakh mosques and more than 1.5 lakh graveyards, most of which (over 80%) are not registered. The new amendments effectively nullify the Waqf by User principle, except for those properties already registered—something he said gives a false impression that the damage is minimal.

New Delhi: As India prepares to face Pakistan in a high-stakes Asia Cup cricket match tonight, sharp political and public criticism has erupted over the decision to go ahead with the fixture amid ongoing tensions following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

Leading the charge was AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi, who questioned the moral and political stand of the BJP-led government for allowing the match despite the loss of 26 Indian lives in the attack. He asked whether financial gains from the event were being prioritised over national grief.

“We ask the Prime Minister — when you said ‘blood and water cannot flow together’, when you said dialogue and terrorism cannot go hand-in-hand — how can we justify playing a match against Pakistan now? Will the BCCI make ₹2,000 crore or ₹3,000 crore from this? Is that money worth more than the lives of our 26 citizens?” Owaisi said.

He also questioned the role of state governments, asking if Assam and Uttar Pradesh Chief Ministers had the authority — or the will — to oppose such engagements.
