How to Enable Hyper-V in Windows 11 — Complete Step-by-Step Guide
Want to run virtual machines on your Windows 11 PC? Hyper-V is a built-in virtualization feature that lets you create and run virtual machines for testing operating systems, apps, and isolated environments.
🔹 METHOD 1 — Windows Features
1️⃣ Press Win + R and type:
optionalfeatures
2️⃣ Press Enter to open Windows Features.
3️⃣ Find and check ✅ Hyper-V.
Make sure Hyper-V Management Tools and Hyper-V Platform are selected.
4️⃣ Click OK and let Windows install the required components.
5️⃣ Restart your PC when prompted.
6️⃣ After restarting, search for “Hyper-V Manager” from the Start menu and open it.
🔹 METHOD 2 — PowerShell
1️⃣ Right-click Start and open Terminal (Admin) or PowerShell (Admin).
2️⃣ Run this command:
Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName Microsoft-Hyper-V -All
3️⃣ Wait for the installation to complete.
4️⃣ Restart your PC.
5️⃣ Open Hyper-V Manager from the Start menu.
⚙️ REQUIREMENTS:
✔️ Windows 11 Pro, Education, or Enterprise
✔️ 64-bit processor with virtualization support
✔️ At least 4 GB RAM (8 GB+ recommended)
✔️ Hardware virtualization enabled in BIOS/UEFI
🔍 CHECK VIRTUALIZATION:
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc → Performance → CPU → look for “Virtualization.” It should show **Enabled**.
⚠️ IMPORTANT:
Hyper-V may conflict with some third-party virtualization software. If Hyper-V won't enable, check that Intel VT-x or AMD-V/SVM virtualization is enabled in your BIOS/UEFI settings.
