Bhiwandi, December 31: On the night of December 31, during routine police checking, the Bhiwandi Traffic Police carried out a unique and eye-catching road safety awareness initiative to discourage drunk driving and promote strict adherence to traffic rules.
As part of the campaign, a person dressed as “Yamraaj” stood alongside traffic police officials at major junctions. The symbolic presence delivered a strong message to citizens, warning them not to drink and drive and to follow traffic rules, or else they might have to “meet Yamraaj.”
The innovative approach immediately caught the attention of motorists and pedestrians alike. Traffic police officials used the moment to educate citizens about the dangers of drunk driving, overspeeding, and traffic violations, especially on New Year’s Eve when the risk of road accidents increases significantly.
Senior traffic officials stated that the initiative was aimed at creating awareness in a memorable and impactful way rather than only penalizing offenders. Many citizens appreciated the creative method, acknowledging that the message was serious yet effective.
