Madhya Pradesh Govt Admits No Updated Data on Literacy & Unemployment
In a matter of deep public concern, the Madhya Pradesh government has admitted in the State Assembly that it does not have updated data on literacy and unemployment. Officials revealed that the state is still dependent on the 2011 Census, which recorded a literacy rate of 69.3%, while unemployment figures are not available beyond the job seeker entries on the MP Employment Portal.
The School Education Minister cited the Centre’s “ULLAS” programme as an initiative for literacy, but failed to present recent progress reports. Assembly replies also exposed a steady fall in job fairs and offer letters for youth, signaling worrying gaps in employment opportunities.
📌 Without current statistics, policymakers, students, and job aspirants remain uncertain about the real situation of education and employment in the state. Citizens and experts stress the urgent need for updated surveys and transparent data to plan effective reforms.
