Madhya Pradesh Govt Admits No Updated Data on Literacy & Unemployment

In a matter of deep public concern, the Madhya Pradesh government has admitted in the State Assembly that it does not have updated data on literacy and unemployment. Officials revealed that the state is still dependent on the 2011 Census, which recorded a literacy rate of 69.3%, while unemployment figures are not available beyond the job seeker entries on the MP Employment Portal.

The School Education Minister cited the Centre’s “ULLAS” programme as an initiative for literacy, but failed to present recent progress reports. Assembly replies also exposed a steady fall in job fairs and offer letters for youth, signaling worrying gaps in employment opportunities.

📌 Without current statistics, policymakers, students, and job aspirants remain uncertain about the real situation of education and employment in the state. Citizens and experts stress the urgent need for updated surveys and transparent data to plan effective reforms.

INCLUSIVE EDUCATION GETS A BOOST: UDISE+ 2024-25 REPORT REVEALS POSITIVE PROGRESS

India is steadily moving towards inclusive education! According to the latest UDISE+ 2024-25 report, nearly 54.9% of schools across the country are now equipped with accessible infrastructure such as ramps, handrails, and supportive facilities for Children with Special Needs (CWSN).

This milestone reflects the government’s strong commitment under the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) to provide education with dignity, equality, and opportunity for every learner. Experts say this progress not only removes physical barriers but also fosters a culture of inclusivity, ensuring no child is left behind in the pursuit of education.

Civil society groups and parents of differently-abled children have welcomed the step but emphasized the need for further expansion calling for inclusive classrooms, trained teachers, and assistive technology to create a truly barrier-free learning environment.

PM Modi Concludes “Productive” China Visit, Shares Car Ride with Putin at SCO Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrapped up his two-nation visit with a significant stop in Tianjin, China, where he attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit 2025. In a rare diplomatic gesture, PM Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin traveled together in the same car to the venue of their bilateral meeting, underlining the strength of India-Russia ties.

During the summit, PM Modi held crucial talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, highlighting that “India and China are both victims of terrorism”, signaling a notable shift from recent positions. He also reiterated India’s stance on key global issues, from security to economic cooperation.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said: “Concluding a productive visit to China, where I attended the SCO Summit and interacted with various world leaders. Also emphasised India’s stand on key global issues.”

This marks Modi’s first visit to China in seven years, reflecting renewed momentum in India-China engagement. He thanked President Xi, the Chinese government, and the people of China for the successful organisation of the summit.

PM Modi’s engagements at SCO 2025 hold importance for India’s role in shaping regional security, counterterrorism efforts, and global cooperation at a time when geopolitical challenges are mounting. His interactions with both Xi and Putin spotlight India’s balancing act in diplomacy.

US-India Trade Alert | 50% Tariff Shock on Indian Textiles

🇺🇸➡️🇮🇳 The US has imposed an additional 25% penalty tariff on Indian textiles and apparel imports, raising the total duty burden to 50%. Effective August 27, 2025, the move directly impacts nearly 60% of India’s exports to the US.

KPR Mill → Limited impact

💡 Possible Govt & RBI Measures:

GST cut (₹1.2–1.5 lakh crore relief possible) to boost demand

RBI rate cut (up to 25 bps) to ease borrowing costs

Diversifying export markets and boosting domestic consumption

📈 For Investors:

🚨 Public Interest News | India Post Ends Registered Post 🚨

India Post to Discontinue Registered Post from September 1, 2025
In a major move to modernise mail delivery, India Post has announced it will phase out its 50-year-old Registered Post service starting September 1, 2025. The iconic service—long trusted for sending legal documents, government notices, and personal letters—will now be merged with Speed Post as part of a larger digitisation and efficiency overhaul.

While officials claim the merger will streamline operations and improve delivery times, concerns loom large for rural and economically weaker sections, who relied on Registered Post’s low cost and legal validity. Unlike Speed Post, which is costlier, Registered Post offered a secure yet affordable mode of communication for millions across the country.

This decision has triggered public discourse on digital exclusion, affordability, and access to government services in remote areas.

📌 Why it matters:

Affects legal, academic, and government-related correspondence

Could widen the urban-rural digital divide

May pressure users to shift to costlier or digital modes

📮 Government is urged to ensure inclusive alternatives and affordable options for vulnerable populations.

New UPI Rules from August 1: What Users Must Know

NPCI’s new UPI rules, effective August 1, 2025, aim to enhance transaction efficiency. Users can now make only 50 balance enquiries and 25 bank account fetches per day per app. Autopay mandates are capped at four attempts and must be executed outside peak hours (10 am–1 pm, 5 pm–9:30 pm). These changes reduce server load and enhance user experience. PSPs failing to comply by July 31 face penalties or onboarding restrictions. The move balances user convenience with digital infrastructure resilience.

RBI Hints at UPI Charges Soon: Free Transactions May End

RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra has indicated that UPI transactions may no longer remain free, citing the need for long-term sustainability. Currently, the government subsidizes the cost of digital payments, but Malhotra stressed this model isn’t viable forever. He hinted that the cost burden may soon be shared by users or stakeholders. With over 12 billion monthly UPI transactions, any charges could impact millions. While no specific fees or timelines are announced, the statement has raised concerns among digital users and small merchants.
