Odisha’s revenue collection rises 7.3% year-on-year till July

Odisha’s total revenue collection reached ₹61,593 crore till July 2026, up 7.3% from the corresponding period last year.

The state’s own revenue grew 11.9%, while own tax revenue increased 9.3% and non-tax revenue rose 14.8%.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has called for further strengthening revenue collection and boosting programme and capital expenditure to accelerate Odisha’s development.

Jamia Millia Islamia has extended the last date to apply for its distance and online programmes for the 2026–27 academic session to September 8. The earlier deadline was August 10.

India moves closer to polymer currency trials

The government has approved a proposal for 2 billion polymer banknotes for field trials — 1 billion each in ₹10 and ₹20 denominations.

The RBI says the polymer notes will be tested alongside existing paper-based currency.
