Mausima Mandir, also known as Ardhasani Mandir, is one of the most special temples of Puri. Situated on the Grand Road, between the Jagannath Temple and Gundicha Temple, this shrine plays an important role during the famous Rath Yatra.

What makes it unique is the tradition where Lord Jagannath Himself stops here on His return journey to meet His beloved ‘Mausi Maa.’ It is here that He accepts the sacred Podapitha prasad – a moment that reflects His closeness with devotees and His human-like affection.

Beyond this ritual, Mausima Mandir is deeply woven into Jagannath culture and carries legends of divine protection over Puri. For many, a visit to Jagannath Dham feels incomplete without stepping into this small yet powerful temple.
