Her sacred shrine, the Samaleswari Temple, stands on the banks of the mighty Mahanadi River in Sambalpur.

Devotees worship Maa Samaleswari as a manifestation of Adishakti, and associate her with the divine forms of Mahalaxmi, Mahasaraswati and Mahakali.

A new Food & Beverages complex is taking shape at Chandaka Industrial Estate, near Infocity, Bhubaneswar.

The top floors are expected to feature Speciality Restaurants Ltd., the company behind popular chains such as Mainland China, Flame & Grill and Sigree, among others.

The building is also expected to house a DMart store, adding another major retail destination to the rapidly developing Infocity–Chandaka corridor.

Another major textile investment is taking shape in Odisha’s Khordha.

Sportking India is investing around ₹1,000 crore in a greenfield manufacturing unit, with the project expected to generate 6,000+ direct jobs.

With strong access to eastern Indian markets and Odisha’s proximity to major ports, the project could also support the company’s access to international export markets.

Every day, 5,000–5,500 patients visit AIIMS Bhubaneswar’s OPD, while around 100 critical patients reach its Trauma & Emergency unit.

But the current trauma capacity is only 50 beds.

That gap highlights the growing pressure on emergency care in one of Odisha’s major referral hospitals.

A new 150-bed Critical Care Block is coming up and should significantly strengthen capacity. But with demand rising, additional land and further expansion of trauma facilities are increasingly important.

Because in emergency medicine, capacity isn't just a number.

When a critical patient arrives, there has to be a bed, a team and the infrastructure to respond—right then.

Here’s an Odisha startup that deserves attention.

Urban-Hyphae Bioscience, based in Bhubaneswar, is using biotechnology to transform agricultural and milling waste into mycelium-based leather—an alternative to both animal and synthetic leather.

Founded by Adhiraj Mohapatra and Vivek Kumar Singh, the startup has even showcased its innovation at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

A major milestone for Odisha’s emerging semiconductor ecosystem: RIR Power Electronics has completed the installation of SiC epitaxial wafer manufacturing reactors at its Bhubaneswar facility.

So why does this matter?

These advanced reactors are used to grow the thin silicon-carbide (SiC) semiconductor layer required to manufacture high-performance power semiconductor devices.

And the bigger headline?

Bhubaneswar is home to India’s first silicon-carbide semiconductor manufacturing facility, placing Odisha on the map of India’s growing semiconductor industry.
