"A fire broke out in the auditorium of a private college in Jagamara area of Bhubaneswar. There was a fire in the second floor, which has been brought under control. Fire and Emergency Services department responded swiftly and rescued around 65 students from the third floor.

One student felt uneasy because of smoke and has been taken to the hospital as a preventive measure." Said Odisha FS on x.

India successfully test-fired its indigenously developed short-range ballistic missiles, Prithvi-II and Agni-I, from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha. The tests were conducted on Thursday, July 17, under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command.

Jai Jagannath, Rasagola Dibasa Ra Abhinandana!
Here's the timelineof the Rasagola history..

1️⃣ Jagannath Temple Ritual:
Rasagola has been offered to Goddess Lakshmi by Lord Jagannath during the centuries-old Niladri Bije ritual, marking the end of Rath Yatra in Puri.

2️⃣ Medieval References:
Ancient Odia texts like Dandi Ramayana (15th century) mention sweets like Khira Mohana, which is believed to be the ancestor of Rasagola.

3️⃣ Temple Mahaprasad Tradition:
Rasagola originated in the temple kitchens (Mahaprasad) of Puri and spread to local sweet-makers (Halwais) across Odisha.

4️⃣ Odisha’s GI Tag:
In 2019, “Odisha Rasagola” received the Geographical Indication (GI) Tag, recognising its unique identity, taste, and link to Jagannath culture — distinct from the Bengali version.

5️⃣ Rasagola Dibasa:
Odisha proudly celebrates Rasagola Dibasa on Niladri Bije day every year to honour this sweet’s cultural and ritual significance.

Many online sources mention that Saradha Bali, near Gundicha Temple, is believed to be named after Queen Saradha Devi, who, as per local lore, filled the Malini riverbed with sand on Lord Jagannath’s command to smoothen the Rath Yatra path. While popular, this version is part of the evolving folklore found on the internet — and not an official historical record.
