In a landmark tribute to Odisha's rich cultural and spiritual heritage, the sacred wheels of the three iconic Rath Yatra chariots are set to find a permanent place at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Here's what makes this moment so special:
🟡 Nandighosh – The magnificent chariot of Lord Jagannath, traditionally built with 16 wheels, symbolising the Lord's divine journey.
🔵 Taladhwaja – The majestic chariot of Lord Balabhadra, recognised by its 14 wheels and deep-rooted spiritual significance.
🔴 Darpadalan (Debadalana) – The elegant chariot of Goddess Subhadra, built with 12 wheels, representing compassion and divine grace.
Every year, these chariots are handcrafted from scratch using traditional techniques by skilled artisans in Puri, carrying forward a legacy that has been preserved for centuries. The wheels are not merely wooden structures—they are revered symbols of faith, craftsmanship, devotion, and Odisha's living heritage.
Their installation at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of the President of India, marks more than a cultural display. It is a national recognition of the timeless legacy of Jagannath culture, ensuring that one of India's greatest spiritual traditions is celebrated at the country's highest constitutional institution.
For Odisha, this is a moment of immense pride. ❤️
