Dies by Su***de in Bidar, Alleged Online Gaming Debt Angle

Bidar, Karnataka:
In a tragic incident, a 21-year-old final-year MBBS student reportedly died by su***de in his hostel room at the Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences on Monday night. The deceased has been identified as Anishkar Chavan, a resident of Balatya Thanda in Chincholi taluk of Kalaburagi district.

According to preliminary information, the incident came to light on Tuesday morning when hostel authorities were alerted. The student is believed to have taken the extreme step by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in his room.

Police sources indicated that the student had allegedly incurred a financial loss of around ₹80,000 while playing an online game. Reports suggest he had borrowed money and was under pressure to repay the amount. Investigators suspect that mental stress arising from financial difficulties may have contributed to the incident.

The student’s family, including his elder brother who is also pursuing MBBS at BRIMS, rushed to the spot upon receiving the news. Relatives were left in deep shock. It is also learnt that his elder sister has completed her MBBS and is currently pursuing post-graduation in Bengaluru.

Superintendent of Police Pradeep Gunti visited the scene along with officials and conducted a preliminary inspection. Authorities have registered a case under the jurisdiction of the New Town Police Station and initiated further investigation.

Officials from the institution were present during the inquiry. Police are currently examining all aspects, including the alleged online gaming involvement and financial transactions, to ascertain the exact cause behind the tragic death.

This incident has once again raised concerns about the growing impact of online gaming addiction and financial stress among youth, especially students pursuing demanding professional courses.

Ugadi Celebrations Mark New Beginnings Across Karnataka

As the vibrant festival of Ugadi was celebrated with enthusiasm across Karnataka, people welcomed the New Year with traditional rituals, festive decorations, and a spirit of unity and hope. Bengaluru: Show-Cause Notices Issued to 8 IAS Officers for Not Responding to Questions in the Assembly

Bengaluru: The State Chief Secretary has issued show-cause notices to eight IAS officers for failing to respond to questions raised by legislators in the Assembly.

Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh initiated the action. The notices were issued after the concerned departmental officials did not provide appropriate replies, which led to embarrassment for the government in the House. Yesterday, Speaker U.T. Khader also expressed displeasure and staged a walkout from the Assembly. Following these developments, notices have been served to the concerned officials.

The Chief Secretary has issued notices to all Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and Secretaries of the respective departments. They have been instructed to submit a response within one week. If they fail to do so, they must provide an explanation as to why the answers could not be submitted.

Notices Issued to Officials from Eight Departments:

Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry – R. Vinoth Priya

Secretary, Department of Housing – Mohan Raj K.P.

Secretary, Department of Transport – N.V. Prasad

Secretary, Department of Horticulture and Sericulture – R. Girish

Secretary, Public Works Department – Amlan Aditya Biswas

Department of Revenue – Rajender Kumar Kataria

The officials have been directed to submit their clarification in writing immediately. During the Budget Session, out of 230 questions, responses were received for only 84 questions.

Yesterday, Speaker U.T. Khader had also expressed dissatisfaction, stating that the House is not run by ministers alone. He adjourned the session and walked out. Later, after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and some ministers convinced the Speaker, Khader returned to the session.

Announces Major Organizational Restructuring in Bidar

In a significant move aimed at strengthening its grassroots presence, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen has announced the dissolution of all Primary Units and the District Committee in the Bidar Parliamentary Constituency, following the directions of party president Asaduddin Owaisi.

The decision comes as part of a broader organizational restructuring initiative intended to revitalize the party’s structure and improve its effectiveness at the local level. Notably, the Basavakalyan unit has been exempted from this dissolution and will continue to function as usual.

The party has clarified that all elected representatives will continue serving the public in their respective wards. However, they will not hold any official organizational positions until the formation of new committees.

During this transitional phase, AIMIM has also urged all press and digital media platforms to refrain from seeking or publishing statements from unauthorized individuals, emphasizing that only official sources should be considered for party positions.

This restructuring reflects AIMIM’s commitment to building a stronger, more active presence at the grassroots level and ensuring better coordination within its ranks.
