Remembering Sanjarang Lakheswar Brahma on his 41st Death Anniversary🌺🙏
Lakheswar Brahma, also known by Sanjarang was well-known an Indian Bodo poet, writer, cultural activist, social worker and teacher by profession. He was the author of masterpiece work ‘Bwisagu Arw Harimu’. Many of his literary works are selected as syllabus for the textbook and reference from high school to university level.
He was born on 1st of May 1941 at Bathopara village of Panbari under Chirang district. Lakheswar Brahma was highly educated and professor of Bijni College in History.
As a social worker he was the president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, founder of Bijni Town, founder of Bijni District Sports Association, Kherai Bathousali and one of the founders of Bijni College, Bijni under Chirang district. After his death, he known as Sanjarang by sobriquet.
The Bijni College Bodo Literary Society (BCBLS) celebrates his death anniversary as Sanjarang Lakheswar Brahma Memorial Day annually for his contributions for Bijni College as well as in the society. He was died on 2nd of September in 1983 at the age of 42.
Lakheswar Brahma selected as a president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha in 1977. He was very active and hard woking as well as closely related to the organization since 1970 and till his death. After his death the Bodo Sahitya Sabha has been conferring Sanjarang Lakheswar Brahma Cultural Award every year since 2004 to honour him for his contributions to Bodo literature and society. Posthumously the noted Bodo folk singer Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma awarded as first Sanjarang Lakheswar Brahma Cultural Award in 2004.
In 1999, he posthumously awarded Someswari Brahma Literary Award by Bodo Sahitya Sabha for his work Bwisagu Arw Harimu.
