When youths question the government, it should be for a purpose — for the safety, future, and development of the people.
After every victory, youths expect real change, not only promises.
Our first concern should be the safety of our villages from natural disasters. Our region is situated in a very risky location between rivers and near the Bhutan mountains, where continuous dolomite mining is affecting nature and increasing danger for the future. Nature belongs to all of us — whether Bhutan or India — and protecting it is everyone’s responsibility.
Even today, many elders remember the painful incident of 1993. They say it was unexpected and unforgettable. Recently, the heavy flood near Phuentsholing, Bhutan and Jaigaon again gave a warning message to all of us that such disasters can happen anytime if we ignore the signs.
As youths working for the development of Makrapara and nearby villages, we believe protection from future danger should never be ignored. Human life is the most precious thing in this world, and no amount of money can replace it.
We sincerely request the newly elected MLA, MP, and the Office of the Honorable Chief Minister of West Bengal to take every necessary step for disaster protection, environmental safety, river management, and the security of the people living in vulnerable areas.
At the same time, we the people should also raise our voices and share our problems responsibly, because in today’s time social media has become a powerful platform to spread awareness and bring attention to public issues.
