The All West Kameng District Students' Union (AWKDSU) has deferred its bandh call, initially planned in response to certain issues, until September 17. This decision comes after the four MLAs from the West Kameng district constituency provided assurances to address the concerns raised by the student union.

As per the agreement, if the MLAs fail to fulfill their commitments by September 17, the AWKDSU will enforce a 48-hour bandh call starting after 17th September. The student union's decision aims to give the MLAs sufficient time to resolve the issues while also ensuring that the interests of the district's residents are protected.

This development is expected to bring temporary relief to the residents of West Kameng district, who were bracing for potential disruptions due to the bandh call. The situation will be closely monitored, and further actions will be taken based on the MLAs' progress in addressing the concerns raised by the AWKDSU.

24-Hour Bandh Call in West Kameng District

The All West Kameng District Students' Union (AWKDSU) has declared a 24-hour bandh in West Kameng district from 5:00 AM on September 8, 2025, to 5:00 AM on September 9, 2025. The call is in response to the non-joining of 12 teachers transferred to the district.

The bandh aims to press the authorities to take immediate action to ensure the teachers report to their assigned schools and address the educational concerns of the students in the district.

According to reports, on August 25, 2025, at about 1:45 pm, a landslide took place between Sappar Camp and Padma Hotel along the Dirang route to Tawang-Chardwar-Balipara in West Kameng District, Arunachal Pradesh, with an army gypsy vehicle carrying two personnel getting trapped in the incident despite no rainfall being recorded. Thankfully, the personnel escaped unharmed with no casualties reported, although two vehicles were badly damaged, as stated by reliable sources.
