The Andhra Pradesh police and the Special Enforcement Bureau laid over 62,000 illicit liquor bottles on a road, and got them razed to pulp on Saturday. These bottles were seized in the last two years in connection with over 822 cases registered in the state. After destroying the liquor bottles, the police issued a certificate for each case. This will be used as documentary evidence in the court trial to follow. Vijayawada Police Commissioner Kanthi Rana said, "As per the AP Excise Act 1968, subsequently amended in 2020, liquor brought from other states without paying duty fees and also duty-paid liquor, more than three bottles is not allowed."

In West Bengal's Durgapur people are getting intoxicated from drinking condom-washed waters.

Consumers are soaking different flavoured condoms

in water for an hour and then drinking that water.

A chemistry teacher from Durgapur said, "condoms are nothing but elastomers, it is natural rubber. It is like synthetic rubber-like material which is polymer. If you keep this in hot water for an hour, it may undergo hydrolysis. After hydrolysis, the alcoholic compound will be formed, and that alcoholic compound can work as alcohol."

Students living in rental places are prohibited to drink alcohol at home. So they have come up with this alternative which is relatively cheaper than alcohol.

Condoms are also sold without prescription. This has increased the sales of condoms in Durgapur.

The teacher added, that they may be poisonous, they may cause cancer and that is why they should be avoided. People do not know the side effects, but one may suffer from them in the future.

Tapan Kumar Deka of Assam, an IPS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as the new Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB).

Deka will take over from Arvind Kumar, who will retire on June 30 next.

Deka's tenure as Director will be of two years from the date of assuming charge.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated Deka and said: "Your illustrious career will continue to inspire youth of Assam."

Sir M Visvesvaraya Railway Terminal is the India's first centrally
AC station.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the Sir M Visvesvaraya Railway Terminal, which boasts airport-like facilities, in Bengaluru.

The terminal has been named after Bharat Ratna recipient Sir M Visvesvaraya and modelled after the Kempegowda airport.

The terminal can cater to 50,000 people daily;

The station has seven platforms, three pit lines, and eight stabling lines to operate 50 trains a day. There are six ticket counters, one dedicated to persons with disabilities;

- The station has spacious parking that can also accommodate 50 autorickshaws and 20 cabs and a specialised zone for buses;

- The terminal has a VIP lounge, a waiting hall, and a digital real-time passenger information system. It also boasts a food court and has lifts, ramps, and stairways that connect to the subway, and a foot overbridge;

- Many posters with QR codes have been put up across the station to access sign language videos explaining its infrastructure. It also has multiple charging points at every level.

Baba Ramdev says, 'Yoga is spiritual, not religious'.Guru Baba Ramdev performed yoga at Patanjali Yogpeeth in Haridwar.

Ramdev began Yoga at 5 am where more than 10,000 of his followers performed various Yoga asanas till 8 am. They were briefed about various health benefits and cures of various illnesses by performing particular Yoga asanas. The event was streamed live on various platforms for Yoga followers across the globe. "The nation is celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and we should aim to keep our body free of any illness. And for this one should do four-five Yoga asanas every day," Ramdev said. He added that Yoga is for everyone and urged people not to associate it with any religion or political party.

Flood, landslides claim 71 lives so far in Assam, 33 districts affected.

The state of Assam has been facing floods and landslides for eight days starting from June 13.

As per CWC (Central Water Commission) bulletin, rivers namely Kopili (at Kampur, Nagaon) is flowing above High Flood Level; the Brahmaputra (at Neamatighat, Jorhat, at Tezpur, Sonitpur, at Guwahati, Kamrup, at Goalpara, Goalpara, at Dhubri, Dhubri, Subansiri (Badatighat, Lakhimpur); Kopili (at Dharamtul, Nagaon; Puthimati (at NH Road Crossing, Kamrup); Pagladia (at NT Road Crossing, Nalbari); Manas (at NH Road Crossing, Barpeta); Beki ( at Road Bridge, Barpeta) is flowing above the danger level.
