A catastrophic flash flood has devastated the Nepal-China border region after a massive glacial ice-and-rock collapse sent a powerful surge of water, mud and debris through Himalayan valleys.

A former swimming coach in Singapore has been sentenced to two years in jail and three strokes of the cane for repeatedly molesting a 10-year-old student during swimming lessons.

A stunning aerial video of a Vande Bharat Express winding through the mist-covered Western Ghats in Karnataka has gone viral, drawing more than 15 million views on Instagram. The footage was captured during a recent trial run on the challenging Sakleshpur–Subrahmanya Road ghat section, part of the Bengaluru–Mangaluru railway route.

Surrounded by dense forests, steep slopes and monsoon mist, the orange-and-white train has been compared to an “orange snake” moving through the hills. The section includes steep gradients, 57 tunnels, 258 bridges and 108 sharp curves. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared the video on X on August 23, writing, “New age trains!
