Have you ever found yourself gleefully enjoying a movie or a show that you know is trash? You find that It is more fun than even some great works of art. What is this unexplainable quality that's keeping you entertained?
Well, you have mostly likely been greeted with a work of Camp. Many things in the world have not been named, and many things, even though named, have rarely been talked about, and one such sensibility is Camp - precisely because to talk about Camp is to defy it.
But still, that is exactly what I have tried to do in this video. I have gone through every resource on Camp available online and obviously, Susan Sontag's seminal essay on the subject, to create this comprehensive guide on Camp, particularly in reference to film.

The Lighthouse is one of my favorite films in recent years, so, today I wanna look at a scene from The Lighthouse that in my opinion, is the perfect example of how to build and release tension in a single scene without any dialogue.

Last day I went to watch this film called The Last Duel. I had zero clue as to what the film was going to be about, my knowledge was limited to the fact that it was a period drama which starred Matt Damon and Adam Driver as made apparent from the posters. As I walked in the theatre hall, I was shocked to see that I was the only person there. Right off the back, I felt like the initial scenes of the film were not cohesive but by the time the film ended, it made its stance clear and it surely didn’t disappoint.

Right from the first scene in Bergman Island, it is apparent that this is a movie made with a very particular audience in mind. You can tell that it will never crossover into pop culture or even into the conversations of casual movie fans, like a lot of indies playing in the festival circuit, do. Instead, it is a movie made for the terribly small niche of cinephiles, fans of Ingmar Bergman in particular, and the artists who will relate to the subject matter of the film, as it questions the disparity between art and artists, and how the works of great artists like Ingmar Bergman affect those they inspire.
