1. A big decision has been taken by the state administration regarding the chariot used in the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Digha. According to reliable sources, the wheels of the chariot will be changed and a steering will also be installed in it so that the chariot can be driven more safely and smoothly.
2. A full-scale emergency mock exercise was successfully conducted at NSCBI Airport. The exercise was conducted as part of regulatory requirements to assess the effectiveness and preparedness of various stakeholders involved in managing a simulated aircraft emergency scenario. The exercise was coordinated by Airport Director Dr. P.R. Beuria , with all major departments of the Airports Authority of India (AAI)
3. The city witnessed a sharp north-south divide in downpour on a rainy Monday. While north and central Kolkata were drenched by frequent, sharp spells of rain that left roads waterlogged for several hours in the morning, most parts of south Kolkata received sporadic drizzles. The difference in rain count was a result of 'localized rain', which often happens in monsoon, said the Met office.

Southern India continues to lead in biodiversity richness of the country as was evident from Zoological Survey of India's flagship publication, Animal Discoveries-2024, which documents 683 new faunal discoveries from across the country, 459 of the species being new and 224 newly recorded in India. Among them, Kerala emerged as the top contributor with 101 discoveries (80 new species and 21 new records), followed by Karnataka (82), Arunachal Pradesh (72), Tamil Nadu (63) and Bengal (56).
5. Parts of central Calcutta were waterlogged on Monday following overnight rain and another sharp spell in the morning. A senior official of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation blamed the waterlogging on the “heavily silted” drainage network under BB Ganguly Street. The silted drain, coupled with intense rain, led to the waterlogging, he said.
