We were fortunate to host Dr. Ramzy Baroud, the eminent Arab journalist, (attended online) and Niyas P.K., journalist, writer, and translator, for our book discussion on Gaza Paranjutheeraatha Kathakal — the Malayalam translation of My Father Was a Freedom Fighter: Gaza’s Untold Story. It was an inspiring and profoundly engaging session.
To paraphrase Dr. Baroud, “The story of the Palestinians is the story of a people struggling for dignity, respect, and freedom — betrayed by their leadership, opposed at every step by their Arab neighbours, and abandoned by the Ummah. These are things many of us take for granted every day.”
Niyas P.K. shared with us his experience of translating the book, offering reflections on how we can understand the Palestinian struggle and stand in solidarity with their cause. He also spoke about his readings and insights on Tufan al-Aqsa, Hamas, and the PLO — making the session deeply informative and thought-provoking.
Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ramzy Baroud and Niyas P.K. for their illuminating insights, and to our audience for making this session truly memorable — even amidst the inevitable internet hiccups!
