Beautiful Pangi Valley The Pangi valley is a remote, rugged and poorly developed tribal area. It is one of the most remote areas in Himachal Pradesh state.

Pangi Valley in the upper part of Chamba District is a remote world in itself. Placed between the Middle and the Greater Himalaya, Pangi remained locked within itself. The Valley is remained land locked for about six - eight months due to heavy snow fall. This hidden valley located between Pir Panjal and the Greater Himalayan Zanskar ranges is cut off from the rest of the world. During winter and

spring this valley is completely cut off. During late summer and fall, access is provided through several passes. These passes provide a challenge to serious trekkers. The Sach Pass (4,414 m) was once its solitary connection with the rest of the world and this remained closed for the better part of the year. Speaking worlds for its seclusion, no matter what the turbulence, no matter what the physical ordeal, it is unlikely that the state foresaw the death of its functionaries and wished to provide financial assistance for their final rites. But as a part of the former princely state of the Chamba, officials posted to Pangi were given a 'funeral allowance!'

Some of this isolation has now eroded, but Pangi retains all of nature’s majesty and grandeur.
