|| Awareness is Growth, Ignorance is Death ||
The story of Hindu-Sikh Unity and Disunity:
1906: Muslim League Formation, the first Religion based Political Party in India, which was recognized by British.
1909: Morley-Minto Reforms: Brought "Separate Electorates" for Muslims. Which means, some constituencies will be reserved for Muslims to contest, and only Muslims will be allowed to vote. It is done only to reaffirm that British understands and acknowledges that Islam is a different Religion with different Law, and it needs to be recognized.
1915: Hindu Mahasabha: Madan Mohan Malviya, Lala Lajpat Rai, VD Savarkar. It was supposed to be the second Religion based political party just to oppose Muslim League. But.... 1. HINDU word was never defined before. SO, WHO IS A HINDU? 2. Party was not recognized by British.
1919: Montegue-Chemsford Reforms: After successful separation of Muslims from secular INC, they brought "Sikh Separate Electorates". Now some constituencies were reserved only for Sikhs to contest and only Sikhs could vote for them. Clearly mentioning that Sikhs are different from Hindus and British recognizes that.
1920: SAD, a political party, and SGPC, a Religious Body was created to develop a fully defined different Religion, a perfect platform for "Divide and Rule Politics" by British. Islam and Christianity, Abrahmic Religions have a completely developed Structure of the Organization. Attempt was to create one such completely defined, independent Religion.
1922: VD Savarkar, understanding the politics of British, defined Hindutva or Hinduism, which included everybody other than Muslims, Christians and Jews.
(Included Sikhs, Budhism, Jainism and Sanatana Dharma)
1925: Gurudwaras Act passed by British which legally defined the Sikh Identity. (Although, Hindu identity could not be defined) And the control of all the Gurudwaras were given to Sikh Religious Body SGPC. (Which for Hindus is yet not done, till 2022)
After Independence:
1955: "Hindu Code Bill" was passed by "J.L.Nehru's Democratically Elected Government", in which "Hindu Marriage Act" was passed. Other than MUSLIMS, CHRISTIANS, JEWS, everybody living in India was to be governed according to "Hindu Code Bill".
"Hindu" became a General Category. Sikhs were included in this definition. I take this as first constitutional attempt for defining the Hindu Identity. But SAD & SGPC had already been created. The politics & elections became way more important than TRUTH & SPIRITUALITY and what were the actual teachings of Sikh Gurus.
1966: "Punjabi Suba" Controversy: Result: Division of the State in Haryana and HP. Politics: Since then no Hindu became CM of the state ever. And we all know what happened thereafter. Today, the NATION is facing threats from Khalistani Terrorists. !!!!!
The separation of Sikhs from a General Definition of Hinduism, accepted by Constitution in 1955 and Supreme Court in 1994, is nothing but only politics, which benefits some political and religious groups.
2012: Congress passed "Anand Karaj Act" separating Sikhs from "Hindu Marriage Act". Why Why Why Why Why?????
(Buddhists, Jain yet included in Hindu Marriage Act)
Today, Sikhism is a completely different well defined Religion, from which the hardliners even claim not to celebrate festivals like Rakshabandhan, Diwali or Holi..!
By the way, Hinduism is still undefined, and it just means Nationalism in which all are included.
