India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is now operational at several locations across France, including major airports and the iconic Eiffel Tower, according to Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.

Misri said UPI has already been rolled out at multiple travel and tourist hubs in France and noted that discussions are underway to expand the service to additional cities across the country.

Auto-rickshaw drivers in New Delhi have reportedly been tearing down posters featuring US President Donald Trump following the deaths of three Indian sailors in a US strike on the tanker MT Settebello off the coast of Oman. Videos of drivers removing the posters have circulated widely on social media.

The posters were part of the US Embassy’s “Freedom 250” campaign, which marked the 250th anniversary of American independence and featured Trump-themed banners on around 100 auto-rickshaws across the capital. The campaign has faced growing criticism following the deaths of the Indian crew members.

The protests come amid heightened public anger and diplomatic tensions after India lodged strong objections with Washington over attacks on commercial vessels carrying Indian sailors in the Gulf region.

India has successfully completed the final development trials of its Phase-II Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) system, marking a major strategic milestone and placing the country among a select group capable of defending against Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM)-class threats.

According to Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the multi-layered BMD capability was successfully demonstrated through a series of back-to-back interceptor tests.

The trials validated the performance of the AD-1 and AD-2 interceptor missiles, which successfully engaged targets both within Earth’s atmosphere (endo-atmospheric) and beyond it (exo-atmospheric), providing a dual-layer shield against advanced long-range missile threats.

The achievement places India alongside a small group of nations, including United States, Russia, and China, with advanced ballistic missile defence capabilities.

India’s BMD programme was launched in 1999 and has evolved over more than two decades to address emerging missile threats and strengthen the country’s strategic defence architecture.

Iran’s military has claimed that it “humiliated” the United States and Israel, issuing a triumphant statement shortly after an agreement to end hostilities was announced.

According to a statement broadcast by Iranian state media, the armed forces said they had imposed their “divine and iron will” on what they described as the “American and Zionist enemies.”

The statement further asserted that Iranian forces had demonstrated that their adversaries had “no path other than accepting defeat and surrender.”

The remarks come amid competing narratives over the outcome of the conflict, with all sides seeking to portray the cessation of hostilities as a strategic success.

US President Donald Trump announced that the United States and Iran have reached a peace agreement, describing it as an “immediate and permanent” end to military operations across multiple fronts, including Lebanon.

“The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete,” Trump said in a statement on Sunday, coinciding with his 80th birthday.

According to Trump, the agreement will lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy corridor, and marks a major step toward de-escalation in the region after weeks of heightened tensions.

The announcement, if fully implemented, could have significant implications for regional security, global energy markets and US-Iran relations.
