This Diwali, Chandigarh glittered brighter than ever as residents burst firecrackers worth nearly Rs 5 crore, painting the night sky in vibrant colours. However, the celebrations came at an environmental cost — the city’s air quality index (AQI) plunged into the ‘very poor’ category, and noise levels peaked at 80.7 decibels in Sector 22.

According to the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC), key areas such as Sectors 39, 53 and PEC-12 recorded AQI readings above 300, while others stayed in the ‘poor’ range. Despite this, officials noted a steady improvement compared to last year, crediting growing awareness of “Green Diwali” campaigns and responsible celebration among residents.

Interestingly, air quality improved back to the ‘satisfactory’ range by the next morning, aided by favourable weather conditions. Still, the data highlights the delicate balance between festive joy and environmental sustainability.

8 Punjab Youth Stuck in Kazakhstan After Job Scam 🌍. Tricked by Fake Agents, Forced to Work 😔

Eight young men from Punjab’s Ropar district are stranded in Kazakhstan after being lured by fake agents promising high-paying driver jobs.
Upon arrival, they were reportedly forced into labour under harsh conditions. The shocking case came to light when one youth managed to contact a local leader back in Punjab.
Families allege that the local travel agent duped them with false job assurances and took large sums of money. Authorities are now coordinating with the Indian Embassy to bring the victims back safely.
