Movie Review : Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3:
Déjà Boo: When Horror-Comedy Becomes Horrifyingly Predictable 👎
When the Horror is the Plot, Not the Ghosts”
In the much-anticipated “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3,” we feel that fans expected a fresh take on the franchise, but many left feeling cheated by a dull, recycled plot. It’s been described as “proof that some stories are better left untold,” while others see it as a “tired cash grab” that fails to honor its predecessors. The film’s narrative plods along, laden with predictable clichés, leading us to declare, “Watching this was like déjà vu in all the wrong ways,” as the story drags through underwhelming humor and uninspired scares.
Despite the impressive set designs and atmospheric lighting, we feel and as audiences labeled it too a “snoozefest.” Many have lamented, “If you’ve seen the first two films, you’ve seen this one,” highlighting how even seasoned actors like Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit couldn’t breathe life into their roles. We also noted that the characters felt lifeless, “spending more time staring at walls than building any suspense.” Kartik Aaryan has been criticized for playing the same comedic-baba character, while Triptii Dimri’s performance has been deemed lackluster, with many feeling she was “phoning in” her role.
We feel the film’s twist—that Rooh Baba is the royal heir destined to vanquish Monjulika—felt like an obligatory plot device rather than an engaging surprise. Observers have pointed out that “they pulled out every horror trope from the bargain bin,” underscoring the lack of originality. Ultimately, while Balan and Dixit gave their all, “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3” is a franchise filler, more recycled than rebooted, leaving us wishing for the days when horror was actually scary rather than just a punchline.
