Chandigarh: Sukhna Lake Floodgate Opened Again
The UT Administration opened one of the three floodgates of Sukhna Lake late last night as water levels rose close to the danger mark of 1,163 feet. This marks the second release within 24 hours to manage excess inflow. Neighboring districts were alerted in advance to prepare for possible impact in low-lying zones. Over the past few years, such measures have become frequent — with four openings recorded in 2023, six in 2022, and five in 2021. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure public safety.
