Drug Seizure in Changlang District

In a continued crackdown against drug abuse and illegal narcotics trafficking, the Changlang District Police achieved a significant success on 19 May 2026 through a special operation conducted by the Anti-Drug Squad (ADS) under Bordumsa Police Station.

During the operation, the ADS team apprehended one woman identified as Smt. Deepa Tati (37 years), a resident of Kherembisa village under Bordumsa Circle. Upon search and seizure, the police recovered suspected he**in weighing approximately 15.60 grams along with cash amounting to ₹25,550/, believed to be proceeds from drug sales, besides other incriminating articles from her possession.

The accused has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway. Changlang District Police reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying efforts against drug trafficking and appealed to the public to cooperate in making the district drug-free.

SURRENDER OF NSCN (IM) CADRE IN CHANGLANG

One cadre of NSCN (IM), Sh. Jungron Chena (30 yrs), surrendered with arms and ammunition before OC Changlang Police Station and 4 Assam Rifles on 30 March 2026.

The surrender was made after continuous motivation by Changlang District Police to bring misguided local youth back to the mainstream and help them live a peaceful and dignified life with their families.

Police officials stated that such initiatives will continue to encourage other youths involved in insurgent activities to return to normal life.

Changlang, March 25:
A one-day training programme on Special Intensive Revision (SIR) for ERO, AERO and BLO Supervisors was conducted by the Department of Election at the DC’s Conference Hall, Changlang.

The programme was attended by the District Election Officer (DEO), EROs and AEROs from five Assembly Constituencies — 49, 50, 51, 52 and 53.

The training was conducted by NLMT Rosalind Pertin, APCS, focusing on strengthening the supervisory role of officials and ensuring efficient management of BLOs for the purification and accuracy of electoral rolls.

Changlang DC Issues Advisory Ahead of Assam Elections.

The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Changlang has issued an advisory due to the upcoming Assam Assembly Elections on 9 April 2026.

Changlang Police Seize 202.5 Grams of He**in, One Person Apprehended

Changlang, March 22: In a major anti-drug operation, the Anti-Drug Squad of Changlang District Police seized approximately 202.5 grams of suspected he**in during a raid conducted in the early hours of Sunday at PHED Colony, Changlang.
Acting on credible information, the police team carried out the operation and apprehended one individual who was found in possession of 17 soap cases containing the contraband substance suspected to be he**in.

According to police sources, the seized narcotics have been confiscated as per legal procedures. A case has been registered at Changlang Police Station under Case No. 02/2026 under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is currently underway.

Officials stated that the district police remain committed to intensifying their crackdown on illegal drug trafficking and ensuring strict action against those involved in the narcotics trade.

Authorities have also urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and share any information related to drug activities to help curb the menace in the district.

NSCN (IM) Cadre Apprehended in Joint Operation with 11 AR & Changlang Police

In a joint operation by 11 Assam Rifles and Changlang District Police, Mr. Kitsam Kitnya, Rajapiyo of NSCN (IM), was apprehended on 26 March 2025 at Kharsang Charali. He was actively distributing extortion notes to various villages and businesses.

The individual admitted to be working under Mr. Tosham Mossang, SEM & Revenue In-charge of NSCN (IM), Changlang District. A follow-up search led to the recovery of a pistol, ammunition, mobile phone, extortion diary, and other items.

Changlang Police Nabs Two with Suspected Narcotics under Operation Dawn.

On 24th March 2025, as part of Operation Dawn, Changlang Police successfully intercepted a Mahindra Bolero vehicle (AR-12-4546) entering from Margherita, Assam, near the Assam Rifles checkpoint. Based on credible input, a search was conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses, resulting in the recovery of approximately 122.2 grams of suspected powder drugs concealed in a hidden compartment of the vehicle.

Two individuals, Shri Homnong Ngemu (28 yrs) and Shri Rapsam Ngemu (35 yrs), both from Longding district, were apprehended. Two mobile phones and Aadhaar cards were also seized during the operation.
