EDEN

A garden of plenty, once gifted, then lost. In its shade: joy, disobedience, awakening. With the bite of the fruit came knowledge, desire, pain, the burden of choice. Yet Eden remains, not gone but unevenly held. Who was cast out? Who still eats?

Stephanie Comilang’s solo exhibition, ‘An Apparition, A Song,’ at CARA, New York, showcases three immersive film installations that trace themes of migration, colonial histories and indigenous knowledge. Her ‘sci-fi documentaries’ are a means for the Filipina-Canadian artist and filmmaker to question ideas of belonging in a globalised world by blending fact and fiction. The exhibition at CARA includes Lumapit Sa Akin, Paraiso (Come to me, Paradise) (2018); Piña, Why is the Sky Blue? (2022) and Search for Life II (2025) and will be on view until August 10, 2025.

Mumbai-based architecture firm SHROFFLEóN redesigned a modest Lonavala home by blending its original structure with a new steel expansion, creating a dialogue between preservation and innovation. Instead of demolishing the aging house, the architects retained its spatial essence and emotional memory, particularly honoring the client’s late mother’s favorite spaces like the verandah and rose garden. The design showcases a contrast between the old, solid masonry and a new, transparent steel frame, combining brutalist influences with modern minimalism.

We’re pleased to share STIR’s Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Amit Gupta, has joined the advisory board of sā, a regenerative land art initiative rooted in climate, culture, and community.

For over three decades, Amit has worked across the intersections of design, art, and architecture, building platforms that connect diverse creative practices and geographies. With a career that began in advertising and led to establishing India’s first architecture and design gallery, his journey culminated in the founding of STIR in 2014 – now a globally recognised media house and curatorial agency.

STIR is committed to content, connection, collaboration, and community. We are honoured that these founding principles continue to align with like-minded initiatives such as sā.

This is not only an opportunity to amplify regenerative voices from Ladakh and beyond, but also to strengthen global creative discourse through meaningful partnerships.
