The size of the Voith roll service center will increase by almost 50%. As a result of the investment, Voith has already begun expanding its workforce in West Monroe, Louisiana. Expanding the operational capacity of this location will allow Voith to better meet customer needs throughout North America
Voith broke ground on a multi-million-dollar project that will expand and modernize its roll service center in West Monroe, Louisiana – adding more than 20 new jobs and supporting the local economy.
In addition to expanding capacity, the investment into the facility will enhance logistical processes, supporting a faster and more seamless service experience for Voith customers. The size of the roll service center will increase by almost 50% – adding workspace as well as a dedicated training center to support the critical hands-on training of skilled trade experts in the industry.

Chemical safety and sustainability requirements for packaging are becoming increasingly stringent in Europe with the new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which bans PFAS in food contact materials and sets mandatory targets for recycled content in plastic packaging.
Since recycled streams are more susceptible to contamination, the PPWR will make PFAS monitoring crucial for manufacturers developing circular packaging solutions. Demonstrating that a material is truly PFAS-free typically requires at least two complementary laboratory analyses and specialist expertise, making an experienced testing partner essential.
Multi-method approach to capture the full extent of PFAS presence A significant practical challenge in PFAS analysis is the fact that the term covers thousands of substances that cannot all be measured individually. The PPWR addresses this by setting limits for both individual compounds and total fluorine as an indicator for total PFAS.

Sonae Arauco, one of the world’s leading producers of wood-based panels, has successfully started up the first industrial-scale fiberboard recycling line at its Mangualde mill in Portugal at the beginning of Q3 of 2025.

This groundbreaking project, delivered by the international technology group ANDRITZ, marks a major step forward in sustainable fiberboard production and circular economy practices. The new line enables efficient transformation of fiberboard recycling material into reusable fibers for the production of new MDF/HDF panels. At the core of this innovation is the ANDRITZ Steam-Ex system, the pretreatment process equipment based on steam explosion, to defiber fiberboard material most effectively.

The process equipment enables continuous, energy-efficient operation while ensuring outstandingly low steam consumption. This results in an overall higher level of yield relative to other fiberboard recycling processes.
