The Henry Gustav Moliason experiment of 1953 led scientists to understand the brain as we know it today. Basically they ended up removing the "memory part" ( hippocampus ) of his brain and realized that because he didnt remember his past, he was unable to think about his future or present. His sense of self, was absolutely gone 😔⠀
In other words, your memories give you a perspective of who you are and who you are likely to become 💕 ⠀
