3 Things to Stop Doing for a Stronger Marriage

Some things that feel like love are quietly creating distance.

Here’s what to let go of ❤️

1️⃣ Finishing their sentences

It seems helpful. But it signals impatience. Give them space to find their words, even when it takes a moment.

2️⃣ Keeping score

“This was done, so that should happen.” That math never balances.
Notice what’s given instead of counting. Love shows up differently from both sides.

3️⃣Jumping into fix mode

Sometimes they just need presence.
When something hard gets shared the instinct is to solve it. Answers aren’t always what is needed in the moment.
Just being there, sitting in it together, is enough.

Marriage grows when the focus shifts from doing more to showing up differently.

What’s something you let go of that changed your relationship? ❤️

Strong marriages are built in simple, intentional ways ❤️

1️⃣ Talk About Issues Directly

Always be willing to share your feelings with your partner. Avoiding tough conversations can create distance sometimes from past trauma, fear, or worry about conflict. Facing the issue directly, even when uncomfortable, builds trust and a stronger bond.

• Pause before reacting
• Say how you feel, not accusations
• Revisit later if emotions are high

2️⃣ Celebrate the Small Moments

Sitting together over coffee. Writing a note to show how proud you are of them. Complimenting the clean house, the made bed, the way they look. Noticing and appreciating these moments makes a big difference.

• Thank them for something they didn’t expect
• Notice effort, not just results
• Acknowledge routine things they always do

3️⃣ Protect Your Time Together

Life gets busy, but don’t let it take away from your relationship. Make time to sit together, talk, and be present. Even small, intentional moments keep your connection strong.

• Sit together for 10 minutes with no phones
• Check in with one meaningful question daily
• Stay a little longer in a moment instead of moving on quickly

What’s something small that’s made a difference in your relationship? ❤️

Our honeymoon in Bangalore was full of memories, laughter, and choosing to save for our future ❤️

3 Money-Saving Tips for a Honeymoon ✨
1. Pick a fun, budget-friendly destination. We loved Bangalore because there was so much to see and do without spending a fortune.
2. Timing matters. You don’t have to go right after the wedding. Waiting a few weeks or months helped us save and traveling off-season is often cheaper.
3. Focus on experiences, not extravagance. Enjoy local food, sightseeing, and simple adventures. These are the memories that last, not expensive resorts.

When I counsel my clients who want to get married, I always tell them this:

Marriage is not meant to complete you or fill a void within you. It is meant to reveal you.

It exposes the areas where you need to grow, including your life experiences, childhood wounds, losses, disappointments, and even your successes. Marriage becomes a mirror that shows you what is within.

Marriage is also meant to be two people growing closer together and growing in love daily.

Love is patient.
It is not meant to criticize or nag.

Yet as humans, we often focus on our partner’s faults before looking at our own. True growth begins when we choose to look inward first.

When you show love, extend grace, and walk in good conduct, you create space for real transformation.

Marriage is not about fixing your partner.
It is about growing together, becoming better together, and learning to love well every single day.

20 hours. 8,400 miles. Just to meet him for the first time. ❤️
I couldn’t sleep the entire trip. I was too excited.
Every moment felt surreal.

Somewhere along the journey on that flight I heard the most angelic singing.
And it wasn’t just once.
I heard it on the way to meet him and again when I flew to India to marry him and begin my life here.

It felt like reassurance.
A quiet confirmation that I was exactly where I was meant to be.

Our lives have purpose and somehow part of mine was calling me here.
We all have a journey and no two paths will ever look the same.

From long distance… to finally this moment. ❤️

If you’re waiting to meet them for the first time,
don’t overthink every detail.
Don’t put pressure on it being perfect.
And don’t let nerves make you question what’s real.

When it’s right, you’ll feel an indescribable peace,
like being with them will bring so much joy and comfort.

You won’t feel the need to hide anything with them.
They will meet you with understanding, not judgment,
and walk alongside you through life’s challenges
with peace and support.

You will be a gem to them,
and they won’t have eyes for anyone else.

Just be present.
The rest will fall into place.

Date night energy ✨

Some places have a way of turning an ordinary evening into something unforgettable. 🧡

We found ourselves at Nasi & Mee, and every dish delivered. The prawns in the pad Thai were cooked to perfection. Being able to mix in the sugar, chili flakes, and peanuts created the most incredible blend of flavors. Sweet, spicy, with that perfect crunch. 🤌

The spicy volcano roll was just as memorable. It was layered with avocado, salmon, and spicy crabstick on top, bringing everything together in the best way. 🌋🔥

The drinks were just as good. From a Thai bubble tea to a fresh orange, apple, and carrot blend that tasted like sunshine in a glass. ☀️🥤

It’s the kind of night that reminds you how special the simple moments can be.

Draped in tradition, feeling every bit of it 🪷

India, a beautiful place with such diversity, a place where my soul rests easily. Amazing food, rich traditions, and family always there to support you… what more could a girl ask for? 🌿🙏

At the end of life, many people say the same thing. “I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.”

Hospice nurse Bronnie Ware shared in her book The Top Five Regrets of the Dying that one of the most common regrets people expressed before they died was working too much. Many realized they had spent too much time pursuing success, money, or recognition and not enough time with the people they loved.

Cherish your little ones with all of your heart and enjoy the moments while they are still small. Time flies so quickly. Work, careers, and school can wait, but childhood cannot.

Managing a household, cooking healthy meals, cleaning, and learning how to care for a home is a beautiful part of the gifting in us as women. These everyday acts create warmth, stability, and love within a family.

At the same time, every family is different. Sometimes fathers share these roles, sometimes mothers work, sometimes fathers stay home, or couples build flexible careers.

What matters most is balance. Caring for your home, your family, and yourself so you do not push yourself into burnout. A strong family is built when people support one another and share life together. ❤️
