Current Position
--------------------------
The deep depression in the Bay of Bengal is currently located at 320 km. southeast of Chennai and 290 KMS. east - southeast of Puducherry. Rain clouds are progressively consolidating as the system is gradually intensifying.
Development into Cyclone Michaung
----------------------------------------
The deep depression is expected to intensify into Cyclone Michaung in the next 12 hours.
The cyclone is expected to move in north north-westerly direction on Sunday.
Michaung is expected to move parallel to the Tamilnadu coast and position itself very close to the Chennai coast by Monday morning. If the cyclone comes too close North TN may get very heavy rains from the inner bands.
The cyclone is expected to move North on Monday and cross between Nellore and Machilipatnam on Tuesday Afternoon.
Weather Forecast For Sunday

Moderate to Heavy rains are expected in the North TamilNadu coast and adjoining districts.
Rain intensity to increase post 12 PM with isolated heavy rains occurring few places in North TN.
It will be windy along the North TN coast with a maximum wind speed of around 40 Kmph.
South AP coastal areas are to receive moderate rainfall on Sunday.
Weather Forecast For Monday

Michaung is expected to be positioned very close to Chennai on Monday morning.
Heavy rains are forecasted for North TN coastal areas, South AP till Machilipatnam. Rain to be heavy at times.
Gusty winds in the range of 50-60 kmph is expected with max speed reaching up to 70-80 kmph.
Weather Forecast For Tuesday

Rains will reduce along the North TN coast on Tuesday as the Cyclone moves towards South AP. To be a breezy day with wind speeds ranging between 20-40 kmph.
Heavy rainfall along the AP coast between Nellore and Machilipatnam and adjoining interior locations with very heavy rains in isolated locations.

* Keep your mobiles charged along with power banks as EB may cut electricity as a precaution due to heavy rains/winds
* Do your grocery shopping on Sunday morning when rain is less
