Volunteer with Chennai corporation.

Nature of work: Verification of information (in Aadhar, ration card etc) for houses in a particular block. Similar to census work.

Areas: Mylapore, Mandaveli, Triplicane and Santhome

A block will have around 300 houses and a renumeration of Rs 1,500 will be given per block after 3 months.

Ideal for college students.

RBI clean up ! Impact on Jobs. ~ 30,000 to 50,000 Job loss !!

Recently RBI has asked all banks to clean up its balancesheets, leading to almost all banks (both private & public) declaring losses on really loans that can't be recovered. So much talked about, so many numbers thrown up in newspapers - NPA, Capital, Advances, Losses, Etc etc however I fail to see even a single paper mentioning what could be impact of this all on jobs !!

It is important for us to understand the jobs lost for each Rupee loss incurred by a bank. Lots of young graduates have a lot of hopes from Banking sector for their job opportunity. We simply can't afford to let thos sector down.

Fact sheet: (from RBI website)

12 Lakh -------- Total number of bank emoloyees currently
73 Lakh Crores -- Total Advances by all Commercial Banks in India.
11 ----------- Max limit to Ratio of Advances to Banks Capital(i.e capital adequacy ratio inverse). This ratio norm is imposed by RBI to protect depositor.

So for each Rs. 100 Cr loss for the bank, the bank needs to recall Rs. 1100 cr advances to maintain the capital adequacy ratio. For each Rs. 1100 Cr advances recalled - in long term we will lose 1100×12/73 = 180 jobs. Roughly speaking.

Experts are talking about losses to the tune of Rs. 6000 Cr each quarter till Mar 2017. This can be a potential ~30000 to 50000 jobs loss! From a sector that is expected to provide large employment - Not done !! Not acceptable.

Credit is like blood of the economy. All organs stop working when money stops flowing. From my personal experience, I would assess the impact will be multifold

One new article in today's economic times with headline on unemployment.

It is one of our aims to make jobs, employments, unemployment constant topics for prime news and debates in the country till it gets into consciousness of each government official.

Some numbera thrown up in the article

1.4 Cr --- Number of youth joining workforce each year.
15.3 Cr --Number of youth (15- 29 yeaes age) in work force currently
90% ----% of that youth in unorganised sectors currently.

Can we realistically create 1.4 Cr new jobs each year? What is the investment required for that?

Is there any advantage for a young person to be in organized sector vis-à-vis unorganised sector?

The need for country to focus on job creation is imperative. We can't leave it to happenstances or circumstances. It will not happen without strong institutions. We need institutions that keep governments on this track. This association is part of that institution building. We have clarity on what we will do through this association. Through this association our agenda is broadly
1) Help young members of the association actively find ways to improve their skills and employment opportunities.
2) To push goverments for clearance of all hurdles to meaningful-productive Job creation at all skill levels.
3) Encourage public debate and information dissipation the job creation.

India has become a country where this simple truth is totally ignored. It has become usual to see in prime media chest-beating announcements by all Central and State ministers on lakh-crs of investments planned, on hundreds of MOUs signed, on agreements finalised with MNCs. However, not any one in prime media or public policy seem to be tracking/discussing/debating the very purpose of all the investments, MOUs, Agreements - JOBS !! So much so that we would exactly know how many jobs were created in America on a monthly basis, but would not know any thing about jobs created in India last year with any reliable accuracy. Clearly we as a society is losing focus on the very basic purpose of economic-tamasha.

It has become highly important for all job-seekers to bring back governments of all levels to focus on one of their very core purposes - i.e meaningful productive job creation. No single job-seeker can bring this fundamental cultural change in attitudes of governments. To do this all job-seekers need to form a meaningful association to give a loud and reverberating voice that rings high decible in the ears of politicians and moves them towards job creating actions. Associate ! we must, to push an agenda that will create jobs for million of youth that graduate from colleges with high hopes of finding a job that will give them self-respect. Associate, we must to create millions of low, medium & high end jobs in manufacturing and service sectors -especially in Small and Medium Entreprises. Associate, we all must, to create the high end kind of jobs in India itself, that we aspire to pursue by moving to America. Associate ! all rational and self-respecting Indian, to lay a long term path towards constructing a 21st century India where dreams come true and where life becomes joy-er n joy-er as kids grew !!
