Two true sagas from award-wining filmmaker Nina Sabnani set against Partition. The first, Mukand and Riaz, was her father’s story, and now, Sheela’s Two Homes is about her mother.

In Sheela’s Two Homes, Sheela is any happy child growing up in Sukkur, Sind – playing with friends, sewing dresses for her dolls... She lives with her uncle whom she calls Baba, father, just across the road from her real parents. The turbulent times in the run up to Independence don’t touch her. Till suddenly, there’s Partition.

Mukand and Riaz is about every child's right to friendship and a home. The story is set against the background of the 1947 Partition. But friendship between children knows no barbed wire fencing: all children play games, enjoy ice-cream and feel the loss of friends.

The books are available on our website www.tulikabooks.com

The Constitution Day - Samvidhan Diwas , also known as National Law Day, is celebrated in India on 26th day of November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. On 26 November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted to the Constitution of India, and it came into effect on 26 January 1950.

The book - 5 Fantastic Facts about the Indian Constitution - picks up the inclusive and diverse spirit that defines it and breaks it down simply for young children as a unique picture book introduction to this remarkable and complex document.

Ashok Rajagopalan, creator of the hugely popular Gajapati Kulapati series, brings his trademark humour, and quirky detail to the illustrations that make it a visual entry point for children.

She lives with her uncle whom she calls Baba, father, just across the road from her real parents. The turbulent times in the run up to Independence don’t touch her. Till suddenly, there’s Partition.

The gentle unfolding softens realities of a childhood quite far removed from today’s readers. Springing from yet another animation film by Nina Sabnani, it is her mother’s own story, and she continues that connection with the choice of visuals – fragments of cloth, touches of embroidery, that tell of a life across two countries, with two fathers, in two homes.
