Biography of Mizoram’s Five-Time CM Lal Thanhawla to Release Aug 27

Veteran journalist Sanjoy Hazarika’s biography _Lal Thanhawla: The Boy from Zarkawt and the Making of Mizoram_ releases August 27, Westland Books announced. The book chronicles Mizoram’s longest-serving Chief Minister’s journey from MNF Foreign Secretary in 1966 and jail term in 1967-69 to Congress leader since 1973 and five-time CM. Based on hundreds of interviews over two years and rare archives, it traces Mizoram from British Raj to statehood on Feb 20, 1987 and its peace model, including Thanhawla vacating CM’s chair in 1986 for the Mizo Peace Accord.

Kuki Heritage Centre Planned in Kangpokpi by New Film Foundation SAHITCIF

The Sadar Hills Television and Cinema Foundation, formed August 19 at Molthang Village, has announced a plan to build a dedicated Kuki Heritage Centre in Sadar Hills. The announcement was made at its first foundation meet on August 22 at Kangpokpi headquarters. The centre will include an archive for artefacts and oral histories, a performing arts academy, a research facility, and a media production unit.

Senapati Fringe Tension: Houses Allegedly Burnt in Taphou Kuki, Lai and Phuba; CRPF Jawan Injured in Morning Firing

As per Taphou Kuki villagers, a house at Taphou Kuki was allegedly burnt at 2:40 am by suspected NSCN-IM, ZUF-K and village volunteers. After 4 am, retaliatory arson was alleged in Lai and Phuba Poumai villages near 9 MR camp. At 9:20 am, firing was reported during spot inspection, injuring a 54-year-old CRPF constable of 36 Bn, now stable. All allegations are unverified and not confirmed by police. Probe on, additional forces deployed and flag march conducted.

Mizoram's Lalrinchhani Wins Hearts with 465M Votes, Storms Into Top 22 at Miss Universe India 2026

Mizoram's Lalrinchhani secured Top 22 at Miss Universe India 2026 Grand Finale in Jaipur on August 23. The finale had 52 contestants from 31 states, plus wildcards. Manipur's Kaziah Liz Mejo won the crown. Lalrinchhani, crowned Miss Universe Mizoram 2026 in Lunglei, won Miss Popular Award with 465 million shares, defeating Manipur's Thadoi Yumnam who got 442 million, and also won Ms. Wonderla. Northeast celebrates her proud achievement.

Tronglaobi Bomb Case: NIA Shifts UKNA Finance Head S. Palal Thadou to Guwahati Jail Till Sept 3 Over Security Threat

NIA lodged alleged UKNA finance head S Palal Thadou alias Lalboi Singson in Guwahati Central Jail till September 3 after a virtual hearing before NIA Court-II, Manipur on August 21. Jeremiah 23:16-17 warns against prophets speaking from their own minds. In Kuki society today, self-proclaimed prophets like Nu Parchi, Nu Moi, Nu Chinkholam and Pu Chomlhun promise wealth, land and statehood, filling people with vain hopes. When prophecies fail, faith weakens. Churches and families divide as focus shifts from the Bible to dreams and social media visions. We must reject all extra-biblical prophecies and return to Scripture alone. The Bible is sufficient. Repent, believe in Christ, and obey the Bible only.
