China’s AI Boom: More Than 700 Million Users and a New Era of Digital Life♥️♥️🤔👇👇
Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming part of everyday life in China. From smartphones and education to business, entertainment and customer service, AI is moving beyond a futuristic concept and becoming a practical digital tool for millions of people.
Recent figures highlighted by China’s internet authorities show how quickly generative AI has expanded. The country had 602 million generative-AI users by December 2025, according to the figures presented in the graphic. By June 2026, the number was reported to have passed 700 million, showing extremely rapid growth.
That growth is significant because China already has one of the world's largest internet populations. As AI services become easier to access through mobile apps and digital platforms, more people are experimenting with AI for everyday tasks.
So, what exactly are people using AI for?
Generative AI can help users write and summarize information, create images, translate languages, answer questions, assist with coding, support education and perform many other digital tasks. Businesses are also using AI to improve productivity and develop new products and services.
One particularly interesting development is the rise of AI companions. Unlike a traditional digital assistant that mainly answers questions, an AI companion is designed for longer conversations and more personalized interaction. These systems can remember conversational preferences and adapt their responses to the user's communication style.
This development has also created a major discussion about the future of human-AI relationships. When people spend significant amounts of time talking with an AI system, questions arise about privacy, emotional dependence and the difference between simulated companionship and real human relationships.
China has responded by developing regulations for AI services, including rules addressing anthropomorphic AI interaction. Regulators have emphasized transparency, user protection and safeguards against encouraging excessive emotional dependence.

The country's AI industry is also expanding rapidly. Chinese technology companies are developing their own large language models and integrating AI into phones, search engines, healthcare, education and other sectors. In July 2026, Apple's Apple Intelligence service was registered for use in China, with local technology companies including Baidu and Alibaba involved in its Chinese impl

The most important point is that AI adoption is no longer limited to technology experts. Ordinary consumers are increasingly encountering AI in the apps and services they already use.
With hundreds of millions of users, China provides a huge real-world environment for testing how society interacts with artificial intelligence.
The next question is even bigger: Will AI simply become another everyday digital tool, or will it fundamentally change how people work, communicate and build relationships?
The answer may become clearer as AI becomes more deeply integrated into everyday life.
