Gopinath temple is a famous Hindu temple which is located in Chamoli District in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, at Gopeshwar village.

According to a legendary account, the trident of Lord Shiva had got fixed at this very locale during the time when He had aimed it at Lord Kama Deva, in order to kill him. It is quite miraculous that this trident's metal has not corroded by the elements of nature. It is believed that though violent force is unable to move this divine trident even an inch, the mere touch of an honest devotee of Lord Shiva will be capable of creating a tremour in the trident.
