Tension gripped Dehradun's Patel Nagar Area after an alleged derogatory post on Social Media against Prophet Mohammad triggered protests, prompting Police to carry out a flag march.
Police said the people were asked to maintain peace and cautioned against any attempts to disrupt communal harmony. The situation in the area since Tuesday night when people hit the streets is tense but under control, they said.
According to officials, a screen-shot allegedly containing derogatory comments about Prophet Muhammad was posted on Social Media on Monday by 19-year-old Gulshan Singh, a resident of Patel Nagar, originally from Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi District.

Rajasthan Police has claimed to have busted a racket involved in honey-trapping, insurance fraud and illegal arms trade in Jhalawar District, arresting 13 people including a woman, officials said today.
Police suspect that 20 to 25 more people from Uttar Pradesh and other states are linked to the racket.
Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar said the racket, led by History-Sheeter Hemraj Suman, was active in extortion, blackmail and fraudulent insurance claims.

RUPEE FALLS 4 PAISE TO FRESH LOW OF 88.79 AGAINST UNITED STATES' DOLLAR!

Rupee fell 4 paise to an all-time low of 88.79 (provisional) against United States' dollar today, pressured by sustained foreign capital outflows amid global trade uncertainties.
However, a steep fall in global crude oil prices, along with a weaker greenback, prevented a sharp decline in the local unit, according to forex traders.
Markets are also awaiting Reserve Bank of India's Monetary Policy Committee decision, which will be announced tomorrow on Wednesday.

Vijay Kumar Malhotra , aged 94, was the first president of Delhi unit of B.J.P., said the party condoling his death.
Incidentally, Vijay Kumar Malhotra's passing away came a day after Delhi B.J.P. received a permanent office at D.D.U. Marg that was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.

President of United States, Donald Trump, today announced 100 per cent tariffs on movies made outside the country, in a move likely to impact Indian Film Industry.
“Our movie-making business has been stolen from the United States of America, by other Countries, jjust like stealing 'candy from a baby',” Trump posted on Truth Social today.
Donald Trump said California has been particularly “hard hit” because of this, blaming democrat Gavin Newsom, Governor of California, for this loss, calling him “weak and incompetent.”
“To solve this long time, never ending problem, I will be imposing a 100 per cent Tariff on any and all movies that are made outside of the United States,” Donald Trump added.
The decision is likely to have an adverse impact on Indian Film Industry, as U.S. is one of the leading markets for Indian movies due to a large Indian diaspora in the country.
Notably, India produces movies in several languages, which are popular among the diverse Indian diaspora in the U.S. According to a 2017 Forbes' report, Indian language films have become big business in many places across the United States and Canada.
Indian movies' earnings are "commonly exceeding U.S.D. 8 million and occasionally topping U.S.D. 10 million," the report added.
Indian film-makers and North American distributors and exhibitors alike cater well to this audience. At any given time, over 1,000 movie screens in the territory may be dedicated to showing Indian films, the report said.
Importantly, there has been a significant rise in the collections of Indian movies in U.S. since then, experts say.
Meanwhile, President Trump has also decided to impose "substantial tariffs" on furniture imports.
"In order to make North Carolina, which has completely lost its furniture business to China, and other Countries, GREAT again, I will be imposing substantial Tariffs on any Country that does not make its furniture in the United States. Details to follow," Trump posted on Social Media.

Slapping a sedition case against Climate Activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been arrested following widespread violence in Ladakh on September 24, 2025 was "highly objectionable," Congress' Rajya Sabha Member Digvijaya Singh said today.
The violence, during a shutdown called by Leh Apex Body (L.A.B.) to advance talks with the Centre on demands for statehood and extension of Sixth Schedule to Ladakh, led to the deaths of four persons and injuries to 80 others, including 40 Police personnel.
"Running a sedition case against Sonam Wangchuk Ji is highly objectionable. We condemn this. The entire Congress Party stands with Sonam Wangchuk Ji," Digvijay Singh, a former Madhya Pradesh's chief minister, said in a post on X in Hindi.
