The 1922's source code, one of the 4th Largest Search Engines in the World, was leaked a few days back. The leaked code unlocked some of the interesting "Ranking Factors" used in the search algorithm. Here is the list:

1) Crawl Depth is a ranking factor.

Top Pages (Ex: category pages) = 1 click from the Main Page
Important Pages < 3 clicks

2) Backlinks from main pages are more important than those from internal pages

3) Number of search queries for your site/page is a ranking factor

4) Traffic from Wikipedia is a ranking factor

5) The last URL for any search session could be considered a ranking signal. Assuming that users are getting the information on the landing page.

6) URLs opening from bookmarks are considered a ranking factor.

7) Use of any Maps API on the page could be a ranking factor.

8) Keywords in the URL are a ranking factor.

9) Returning users & Direct Traffic are ranking factors.

10) Embedded Videos are ranking signals but a broken video is bad for the page experience.

11) Verified Social Account ranks better than others.

12) Order of keywords in the Anchor Text is a ranking factor for any incoming backlink.

13) Good vs Bad Links ratio is a ranking signal.

14) More pages of a domain ranking in the SERP means the domain is offering quality content and affects the entire domain presence.

15) Amount of Ads on the page is a ranking factor. Less is better.

16) Use of Google Analytics JS code is a ranking factor.

17) Backlinks from the top 100 websites by PageRank impact ranking.

As a new experimental feature, the new tab allows you to see ideas that are based on Google Search queries that might not have enough good results.

Currently available until March 28th 2023, you should have received an email by now if your GSC property has it enabled.

Eg: (Q1 = June-Aug) (Q2 = Sep-Nov)

Compare SEO metrics from 2 quarters against one another by refining the data to have them in one sheet.

Filter Q2 SEO metrics by

✅ Impressions > 500
✅ Avg Position is between 5 to 20
✅ Clicks by keywords that drove 0 clicks in Q1, but in Q2 are getting some Clicks

Keywords where you see an absolute difference of greater than average

This can be classified as “𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀”

Google here thinks your content is relevant for a certain set of search terms & would like to give you a better SERP coverage

Go back to the URL & see to what extent are you answering for these queries

👉🏻 If you find instances of sub-par answers for them = update/refresh content for these entities

👉🏻 If you find instances where you were driving decent amount of clicks in Q1 but it now has gone down to 0 in Q2

These can be your “𝗟𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀”

Analyze if these pages have just seen a decline in clicks while avg position is still the same or avg position has gone down as well

If avg position has gone down, then this has to do with

🟡 Search Intent not matching
🟡 Content not answering for the relevant term
🟡 Competitors doing a better job for the search term

Prioritise optimizing pages where avg position is between 1 to 10 to see quicker results

👉🏻 Lastly, if you find search terms which drove 0 clicks in Q1 & Q2

Pick search terms where impressions they drive is relatively high & consider optimizing the page for it
