Actor Kajal Aggarwal recently found herself at the center of a shocking death hoax after unverified reports claimed she had died in a road accident. Stepping in to put rumors to rest, Kajal reassured fans about her safety.

“I’ve come across some baseless news claiming I was in an accident (and no longer around!) and honestly, it’s quite amusing because it’s absolutely untrue,” she wrote on Instagram Stories and X.

Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra’s Param Sundari has landed in controversy after a viral still showed Janhvi climbing a coconut tree. Viewers slammed it as “insulting” and “stereotypical,” accusing Bollywood of misrepresenting Malayali culture.

Bhojpuri actor Pawan Singh has issued an apology to actress Anjali Raghav, after a viral video from a Lucknow event showed him repeatedly touching her waist on stage, despite her visible discomfort. Pawan claimed on Instagram that he had “no wrong intention”, writing, “Agar aapko humari kisi bhi byawahaar se taqleef huyi ho toh uske liye main shama prarthi hoon.”

Anjali, however, shared an emotional video saying she felt “disturbed for the past two days”, adding, “Do you think I would enjoy being touched like that in public?” She also declared she will quit the Bhojpuri industry, stating, “Main Bhojpuri industry mein ab kaam nahi karungi.”

The National Annual Report and Index on Women’s Safety (NARI 2025) has laid bare the ground reality of women’s safety in Indian cities.

🔴 Key Findings:

40% women in urban areas feel “not so safe” or “unsafe,” especially after dark due to poor lighting and lack of visible security.

Voices of 12,770 women across 31 cities were captured, creating a data-driven framework for better safety.

Least Safe Cities: Ranchi, Srinagar, Kolkata, Delhi, Faridabad, Patna, Jaipur.

Safest Cities: Kohima, Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar, Aizawl, Gangtok, Itanagar, Mumbai.

Har*ssment Reality: From staring, catcalling, lewd comments to physical touch — many women drop out of schools or quit jobs due to fear.

7% women reported harassment in 2024, highest among ages 18–24, compared to just 0.07% NCRB-recorded cases.

Only 22% of women report harassment; in just 16% of cases, action is taken.

53% women unsure if their workplace has a POSH (Prevention of S*xual Har*ssment) policy.

Launched by Vijaya Kishore Rahatkar, Chairperson of NCW, and powered by Pvalue Analytics with Group of Intellectuals and Academicians (GIA), the report sheds light on the “dark figure” of unreported cases — revealing the perception, not just the numbers, of safety in India.

The Supreme Court of India has directed stand-up comedian Samay Raina and four other influencers to issue a public apology on their podcasts and programmes for making remarks ridiculing persons with disabilities. The other names in the case include Vipul Goyal, Balraj Paramjit Singh Ghai, Sonali Thakkar, and Nishant Jagdish Tanwar.

During Monday’s hearing, the court also asked the central government to frame guidelines for social media to curb offensive speech against disabled persons, women, children, and senior citizens. “There are people who seek fundamental right of free speech. If there is such freedom, then we will curtail any speech which demeans another community,” the bench remarked.

Senior Advocate Aparajita Singh, representing the CURE SMA Foundation of India, urged the comedians to “spread awareness about the issue. Let them use their influence to take forward this issue. That would be the best apology.” The foundation had filed the petition citing derogatory content, with video evidence showing jokes mocking people with spinal muscular atrophy and other disabilities.

This is not the first time Samay Raina has faced criticism from the top court. Earlier, he and Ranveer Allahbadia were summoned over controversial comments made on the comedy show India’s Got Latent. The court has now made it clear that freedom of speech cannot be used as a shield for content that demeans marginalised communities.

Fed up with physical assault and constant suspicion, a woman along with her friends in Jaipur killed her husband on Saturday. During probe, police found that the accused had searched online and even watched crime web series to plan the murder of e-rickshaw driver Manoj.

Santosh Devi had grown close to co-accused Rishi Srivastava while working at a bedsheet factory. As their bond deepened, they decided to kill Manoj. Rishi’s friend Mohit Sharma also joined them, and the three looked up on Google how to kill someone and escape. They also studied famous murder cases shown in web series.

The trio bought fresh SIM cards and checked possible spots to carry out the crime.

On Saturday, Mohit took Manoj’s e-rickshaw towards the ISKCON temple. A few minutes later, Rishi joined, and they diverted the rickshaw to an empty farmhouse area. There, Manoj’s throat was slit with a sharp bedsheet cutter. The two men then changed their clothes, switched off phones and tried to cover their tracks.

As the place had no CCTV, police scanned nearby cameras and traced the accused. During questioning, the three revealed they had been planning the murder for about a month.

The 91-year-old was admitted to a private hospital in Thane, Mumbai, where he had been under medical care for his age-releated ailments. While the exact cause of his death remains unknown, reports suggest that he died due to age-related issues. Achyut's last rites will take place on August 19 in Thane.
