Simple Paan Modak recipe

🌿 Paan Modak Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Modak Shell:
2 cups grated khoya (mawa)
1 cup powdered sugar
2–3 drops green food color (optional)
1 tbsp ghee
For the Paan Flavour:
4 fresh betel (paan) leaves, finely chopped
2 tbsp gulkand (rose petal preserve)
1 tbsp fennel seeds (saunf), roasted & powdered
1 tbsp desiccated coconut (optional)
1 tsp cardamom powder
Chopped tutti frutti / candied fennel for garnish (optional)

Method:
1. Prepare the khoya base
Heat a pan and add ghee.
Add grated khoya and sauté on low flame until soft and aromatic.
Add powdered sugar and mix well until it forms a soft dough.
Let it cool slightly. Divide into two parts – one plain and one for paan flavor.
2. Prepare Paan stuffing
Mix chopped betel leaves, gulkand, fennel powder, coconut, and cardamom.
This will be your aromatic paan filling.
3. Shape the modak
Grease modak moulds with ghee.
Take a small portion of khoya mixture, press inside the mould.
Fill with ½ tsp paan stuffing.
Cover with more khoya mixture and press well.
Gently unmould the modak.
4. Garnish & Serve
Optionally, roll the modaks in chopped candied fennel or drizzle with gulkand syrup.
Refrigerate for 30 mins before serving for best texture.

✅ Tip: If you don’t have khoya, you can also use milk powder + condensed milk as a base.
