Delhi’s Patiala House Court has rejected Umar Khalid’s interim bail plea in the Delhi riots conspiracy case.

Khalid had sought 15 days’ interim bail to attend the 40th-day ritual of his late uncle and to take care of his mother, who is scheduled to undergo surgery.

The court said bail cannot be granted “every time” an accused applies and added that every application must be judged on its own merits.

Amul has announced a nationwide increase of ₹2 per litre in fresh milk prices, with the revised rates coming into effect from May 14, 2026.

The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets products under the Amul brand, said the decision was taken due to rising operational and production costs. The company cited higher cattle feed prices, fuel expenses, and packaging costs as major reasons behind the hike.

According to GCMMF, the increase translates to nearly 2.5 to 3.5 percent per litre, which the cooperative says remains lower than the average food inflation rate. The federation also stated that milk procurement prices paid to farmers have increased over the past year.

The move is expected to impact household budgets across several Indian states, especially amid continuing inflation concerns.

Rights groups allege abuse of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons

Human rights organisations and former Palestinian detainees have alleged systematic torture, sexual violence, and physical abuse inside Israeli detention facilities, according to reports published by Al Jazeera and rights monitors.

The allegations include claims of beatings, humiliation, denial of medical care, use of dogs during interrogations, and sexual abuse against detainees, including minors. Rights groups said thousands of Palestinians remain in detention amid the ongoing Gaza conflict.

The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor and the Women’s Centre for Legal Aid and Counselling called for independent international investigations into the reported abuses. Israeli authorities have previously denied allegations of systematic mistreatment and said detention operations follow security procedures.

The reports come as international pressure continues to grow over humanitarian conditions linked to the Israel-Gaza war.

India’s National Testing Agency (NTA) has cancelled the NEET (UG) 2026 examination conducted on May 3 following reports of a suspected paper leak, according to initial official and media reports.

Authorities said the decision was taken to protect the integrity of the examination process after allegations surfaced from multiple centres. Officials added that a fresh examination schedule will be announced separately after review and investigation.

NEET is India’s largest medical entrance examination and is taken annually by lakhs of students seeking admission to MBBS and other medical courses.

Several students and parents expressed concern online over exam security and delays in the admission process, while education authorities urged candidates to rely only on official updates from NTA.
