I got the opportunity to meet and represent at the Warwick law fair yesterday. It was an insightful afternoon, as I got to meet and answer firm related queries for students and promote the firm's opportunities and values.

I would like to express my gratitude to the firm’s representatives, including Lucy De St Croix for their time and effort. I would also like to thank Comfort for her valuable insights and tips about Latham's application process.

it was great learning about opportunities and culture from you. Looking forward to organise collaborative events with you!!

At the law fair, I got the chance to interact with other firms, including Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, White & Case LLP, Ropes & Gray LLP, Paul Hastings, Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, DLA Piper and Dechert LLP. Through my interactions with the graduate recruitment, partners and trainees at the firms, I got a deep insight into each firm's unique culture, practice areas, pro bono, and trainee development opportunities.

I feel fortunate for my interactions and the networking opportunities with various firms as this would help me better understand the life as a trainee, and most importantly explore what suits my interest the best.

Lastly, I would like to express my thanks to the Warwick Law careers team to have organised this Law fair.

I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to intern at during the summer.

Throughout the internship I assisted in drafting a discharge application based on a Supreme Court judgment, involving IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act cases. I also learnt drafting trademark objection replies, conducted IP research, and managed corporate registers. This was followed by performing due diligence on properties for a listed company.

I also got the opportunity to conducted legal research on various topics, including international jurisdictions.
I was involved in preparing case notes on an arbitration matter involving the Companies Act, 1956.

Overall, it was a holistic learning experience, especially for an aspiring solicitor. It provided me practical exposure to the legal field by real-world application of legal principles.

I’ve written this short piece to highlight a recent change in the equalities act. This can bring about a possible change in the definition of s*x to ‘biological s*x’. This would allow organisations to bar trans women even with a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC)from single-s*x spaces and events, including hospital wards and sports.

This has prompted anger from the LGBTQ+ group Stonewall, which said it “risks opening yet another chapter in a manufactured culture war that will see little benefit to women, cis and trans alike”.

The poem

As soon as some fog clears,
And as soon as a ray of hope appears,
Without fail they smoke ci**rs to re-conceal the cleared space,
In the name of greater legal clarity they blot them out with utmost grace.

Now they are redefining s*x to ‘biological s*x’ in the equalities act,
A move through which trans women will be strapped.
Now from single-s*x spaces they can be barred,
And as always they so-easily leave them deeply scarred.

The legal age of marriage has been raised to 18 in England and Wales.

This means now it’s illegal for 16- and 17-year-olds to marry or enter a civil partnership, even with parental consent.

The Marriage and Civil Partnership (Minimum Age) Act 2022 received Royal Assent in April this year. It finally came into effect on Monday 27 February 2023 after 5 years of campaign.

Total jobs and The Diversity Trust conducted a research in order to find out about the employment course (including the application stage, interview stage and throughout the employment duration) and opportunities accessible to the Black and South Asian women.

The findings were quite astounding as it was seen that the duration for getting employed for the following groups are as follows:
